Fox News chief intelligence correspondent Catherine Herridge appeared on “Your World with Neil Cavuto” to stress that the worst is yet to come from Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz.
Herridge pointed out that the report released this week concluded that former FBI director James Comey violated his agency’s policies and employment agreement in his handling of memos documenting private conversations with the president.
She read a portion of the inspector general’s report: “We have previously faulted Comey for acting unilaterally and inconsistent with Department policy. […] What was not permitted was the unauthorized disclosure of sensitive investigative information, obtained during the course of FBI employment, in order to achieve a personally desired outcome.”
“The inspector general found that there was seven memos documenting in part these private conversations with the president,” she said. “They said they were not personal memos as Comey told Congress, but they were in fact government records and he had no authorization to remove them and his characterization otherwise was not supported by the law.”
“And to get the contents of a memo to ‘The New York Times’ to kick-start the special counsel investigation, the report found Comey used a Columbia law school professor as an intermediary. Earlier on Fox, the former acting Attorney General weighed in saying he thought it pointed to a culture at the FBI that was overseen and created by Comey where leaking was tolerated.”
After laying this out, Herridge insisted that this isn’t “the major report” everyone has been waiting for, which centers on the FISA warrants that allowed for the surveilling of Trump campaign adviser Carter Page.
“The bottom line for folks at home is this is not the major report that we’ve been waiting for, which is the FISA investigation that looks into alleged surveillance abuse and targeting of the Trump campaign,” she told host Neil Cavuto. “This is a separate report that looks at the handling of the memos that kick-started the special counsel investigation and the actions of the former FBI director.”
“You cannot underscore this enough. An FBI director — it’s not every day that they’re investigated by the inspector general,” Herridge said, adding that the position is seen as the nation’s chief law enforcement officer and sets the tone for the entire bureau.
Attorney General William Barr opted not to prosecute Comey based on the report out this week, which prompted President Trump to tweet a quote from former CIA officer Bryan Dean Wright, who appeared on “Fox & Friends.”
“Bryan Dean Wright, former CIA Officer(Dem): “In 2016 we had a Coup. We have to take Comey and others to task. Makes no sense not to prosecute him. Comey got a book deal. I fear for my Country. He tried to kneecap our duly elected president, and there are no consequences,” the president tweeted.
Responding to Trump’s tweet, a social media user offered a point of view that takes into consideration the second part of the IG report Herridge reported on, that Barr is waiting on the “real” crimes before prosecuting Comey.

Although former Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos doesn’t think that Comey will face charges because of how “far up” his position was, saying that former deputy director Andy McCabe will take the fall.
Comey was too far up to get prosecuted for illegal behavior, so he will have his reputation destroyed as it has started first in the IG report on him, and most importantly, in the FISA report. McCabe is the low hanging fruit that everyone flipped on.
