Mom’s squeaky oven dance embarrasses daughter, gets national kudos from big names

One of the latest random videos to take the internet by storm is that of Amy Stephens, a Florida mom, who uses her squeaky oven to recreate part of the 2004 hit Usher song “Yeah.”

Stephens uses the oven door, which sounds like it needs some serious WD-40, to perform the opening to “Yeah.” While the oven door sounds incredibly close to the song, what has really captured people’s attention is Stephens’ uninhibited dancing afterwards and the look on one of her daughter’s faces during the whole stunt.

Uploaded to the social media app TikTok, the video has quickly swept across the internet.

“She said just do your thing when the beat drops and that’s what I did,” Stephens said her daughter told her. Mother to 19-year-old Haley and 16-year-old Kasey, Stephens appeared on “Fox & Friends” to give some insight into the video.

She says the video has been watched over 65 million times on TikTok, Twitter and Facebook. She also said her daughter Kasey is a bit surprised at the popularity of the video.

“I was so mad, I’ve been on this app for at least eight months making videos on there and my mom was like, ‘I’m gonna be more famous than you,’ and she made a video and the next morning we wake up and it has over 100,000 likes. It’s crazy!” Kasey said.

Haley, who appears in the video looking mortified at her mom’s dancing, said her mom is “kind of embarrassing, but I love her.” She also said the video is not the first time her mom has broken into wild dancing.

“She’s done that in the grocery store,” she said.

The “Fox & Friends” hosts were as taken with Stephens as many social media commenters.

“Amy, you are so much fun, I want to have a beer with you!” host Ainsley Earhardt said.

Stephens said she is already planning more content and she may be doing something inspired by New Kids on the Block next, a band more from her “era.”

Ludacris, who was featured in “Yeah,” took to his Instagram to share Stephens’ video.

“How I’m about to Embarrass @karma.christine today on her Bday #nowthatsludicrous,” he wrote about the video and his own daughter.

While other celebrities have tweeted about the video, Stephens told “Fox & Friends” that she was most excited about Jesse Williams, who stars on “Grey’s Anatomy,” sharing it. Williams shared the video on Instagram and hashtagged “DadGoals.”

In a news cycle that has been rather negative recently, others are just as enthusiastic about Stephens’ video.

“I love everything about this,” one Twitter user wrote in reaction to the video.

“I’ve honestly watched this 15 times in a row and find something new to laugh at every time. BRAVO MOM,” wrote another user.

Another replied, “Amy Stephens is her name. And she’s my hero.”

“This gets better every time I see it. And reminds me that I’m getting older,” another wrote.
