Liberal Jews around the country marked Tisha B’Av, the Jewish day of mourning, by protesting President Donald Trump’s hard-line stance on illegal immigration.
The protesters opposed the Trump administration’s treatment of illegal immigrants, including those seeking asylum, according to Haaretz.
More than 500 Jews in New York City took part in “Close the Camps” demonstrations, holding signs that read, “Never Again.”
The effort was meant to demonize the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, with participants echoing the extreme rhetoric of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), the neighborhood socialist.
“The land of the free should not have concentration camps,” Brian Mawyer told the newspaper.
We are turning our grief into action and taking to the streets to demand that tech companies stop enabling the deportation machine terrorizing immigrant communities, separating families, and putting children in cages.#JewsAgainstICE #NoTech4ICE #NeverAgainIsNow #ClosetheCamps pic.twitter.com/X9gAjsHdQz

Comparing the temporary detention of illegal immigrants who, by law, will soon be released, to the Holocaust, where more than 6 million Jews were murdered, many of them gassed to death, Mawyer said he felt compelled to act.
“The Jews have suffered from such things before and we don’t want it to happen to other people,” he said. “It makes me feel powerless being so far away, but I feel it’s necessary to do something about it.”
After gathering at a synagogue, the group marched to a nearby Amazon bookstore to “voice their anger” with the online retail giant for its ties to Homeland Security and its Immigration and Customs Enforcement unit, Haaretz reported.
“Amazon causes family separation,” read one protester’s sign.
Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos will soon come to regret any efforts on his part to enable the rabid left, if he doesn’t already.
We are at @amazon‘s store because @AWSCloud is vital to ICE’s cruelty.
Without Amazon, ICE cannot round immigrants up to imprison them in concentration camps or deport them. #JewsAgainstICE will not stay silent while tech companies profit off of cruelty.#NeverAgainIsNow pic.twitter.com/dhRDkjSSP7

Doing what liberal zealots do, they interfered with commerce by taking up residence on the floor of the business, with about 40 people being arrested.
“Amazon is an enabler of Trump’s deportation machine,” Rabbi Yael Rapport said. “The brutal anti-immigration campaign by ICE is powered by technology put forward by Amazon and it forms the backbone for ICE’s operations to track, identify and hunt down immigrants.”
This afternoon members of the NYC Jewish community shut down @amazonbooks in Midtown Manhattan. In honor of #TishaBAv Jews demanded @amazon cut its ties with ICE and that the US government #CloseTheCamps. Story soon for @WBAI. pic.twitter.com/lgIpKMQN8k

Audrey Sasson, executive director of Jews for Racial and Economic Justice, called on Amazon to cut its ties with the government agency.
“Today Jews from across organizations and congregations and synagogues came together as one to decry Amazon’s relationship with ICE, Amazon’s collaboration with ICE and the way in which Amazon enables the deportation machine,” she told PIX11 of New York. “We are calling on Amazon to cut their ties with ICE.”

The paper said protests were held in more than 50 locations nationwide, including 25 states. Some of the demonstrations were held in front of ICE facilities and detention centers.
The arrests served to draw more attention to the liberal protests, as intended — odds are in their favor that the protesters are released in short order without charges.
