With the liberal media disseminating images of crying children in response to a Wednesday raid by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement that netted a total of 680 illegal immigrants, an exception made by the agency is getting far less press coverage.
The raids were at several food-processing plants in Mississippi, making the immigration enforcement operation the largest single-state effort in U.S. history.
And with the open border left quick to show the faces of children reacting to their parents being taken into custody, the Department of Justice said in a statement that nearly half of those taken into custody — 300 — were released after being asked whether they had children who needed to be picked up.
Not only released, but returned to where they were detained.
Pregnant women or those who hadn’t faced immigration proceedings previously were also let go.
According to the release, “approximately 30 detained aliens were released yesterday on humanitarian grounds at the individual sites where they were initially encountered, and another 270 detained aliens were released after being processed.”
More from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Mississippi:
Pursuant to HSI procedures as part of this operation, all those detained yesterday were asked when they arrived at the processing center whether they had any children who were at school or childcare and needed to be picked up. In order to make it possible for detained aliens to contact family members and address childcare issues, HSI made cell phones available for use by detained aliens to make arrangements for the care of their children or other dependents. In addition, HSI had liaison officers working with the school districts to facilitate this process.
As part of HSI procedures pursuant to this operation, if HSI encountered two alien parents with minor children at home, HSI released one of the parents on humanitarian grounds and returned that individual to the place from which they were arrested. HSI similarly released any single alien parent with minor children a home on humanitarian grounds and physically returned that person to the place where he or she was originally detained. Based on these procedures, it is believed that all children were with at least one of their parents as of last night.
A complicit media joined in the left’s efforts to demonize ICE, as seen in the video below from CBS News that featured a young girl sobbing for her father.
“Little girl sobs for her father after he was taken during the Mississippi ICE raids. She pleads for him to be let go: ‘I need my dad,'” the accompanying caption read.

The Washington Post also did its part in carrying the Democratic Party’s water.
“Angie wasn’t the only child without a parent in Mississippi on Wednesday… Many children didn’t have a loved one or family friend to go home to. Some walked home from school but were locked out because their parents were detained in the raid.” #ICEraids https://t.co/wVJ47zwNmx

The fault here not being the actions of foreign nationals who defy our immigration laws, putting their children in such a precarious position, but the federal government for enforcing those laws, the media would have you believe.
Raids of this nature happened more regularly under President George W. Bush, according to Fox News, but President Barack Obama effectively put the squash on them during his tenure.
Some on social media are onto the media’s antics, understanding our laws must be enforced and that the parents are responsible for their children’s grief.
Here’s a quick sampling of responses from Twitter:
Parents should not be putting their kids through this. But of course its Trumps fault huh? Lol.

Maybe her daddy should have thought of that before he entered US illegally? This is the fault of Dems. If we had a wall he would have stayed home/not broken our laws. I’d love entire world to be as wealthy as USA. But we have our own poor & don’t need 3 billion more! @DNC @CNN

Democrats have figured out that if they make it as easy as possible for illegal immigrants to spread all over the country, it’s nearly impossible to get them out. And if anyone tries to get them out, they can count on the national media to hyperventilate about the effort.
