While wearing luxury clothing items likely worth more than most Americans earn in one whole month, singer-songwriter Taylor Swift suggested this week that she’s oppressed.
“Rights are being stripped from basically everyone who isn’t a straight white cisgender male,” she said during an interview with Vogue magazine that was published Thursday.
Included with the interview was a picture of her wearing a luxurious Celine coat and Dior shoes. And attached to that photo was the quote supplied above.

The reaction by the Twitter user who shared this photo — “Comfortably Smug” — was not unique. As the interview and this photo/caption in particular went viral across the Internet on Thursday, the mockery and exasperation grew faster than a plant caked in fertilizer.

What rights specifically Swift???

Taylor, tell us about the rights you’ve lost.

Without all those cis gender white boyfriends she wouldn’t have any material for her songs. @ComfortablySmug

She’s wearing more than I make in 2 months

Celine coat. Dior shoes. Zero self-awareness.

Lol @taylorswift13 just throwing those catch phrases around. Boys are outnumbered in schools , lead in suicide rates, fill up most of the prisons. What rights do we have that everyone doesn’t. miss I grew up rich and daddy(cis white Male) made it happen.

Yet they can never explain how these rights are being stripped or suppressed. What laws were passed? What Executive Acts were signed? What exactly has been done?

Apparently, cognitive dissonance does not exist in the world Vogue magazine inhabits. “Rights are being stripped from basically everyone who isn’t a straight white cisgender male,” Swift says. Celine coat. Dior shoes.” pic.twitter.com/tva05f194G

In fairness to Swift, she’d been responding to a question regarding her support of LGBT rights, which for the record exist aplenty in the United States — and which, again for the record, is being promoted worldwide at this very moment by the administration of President Donald Trump.
However, she specifically claimed that “[r]ights are being stripped from basically everyone who isn’t a straight white cisgender male.” And since she isn’t a straight white cisgender male, this means she’d technically been speaking about herself as well.
Now take a look at the tweets above and note what Mark Hemingway, a senior writer for The Weekly Standard, wrote about “cognitive dissonance.” The fact is that cognitive dissonance has become a staple these days among the rich, wealthy and powerful. It’s been seen among NFL athletes, among Hollywood actors/actresses and among singers/songwriters, including Swift.
But it also appears to be a staple of the youth — and Taylor, 29, is admittedly young.
This “woe is me” mentality aligns with the left’s promotion of victimhood, which has, it would appear, affected all segments of society, including even colleges and universities.
After speaking last week at the Young America’s Foundation National Conservative Student Conference in Washington, D.C., Sen. Ted Cruz was told by an audience member how this mentality has even affected his school’s debate competitions.
“The student noted that participants must write their gender pronouns on a board, ‘trigger warn’ prior to any ‘edgy’ content, and that they can get ‘equity called’ for offensive statements — not to mention the ‘gender minority’ tournaments that exclude males,” TheBlaze reported.
Cruz reportedly responded with exasperation.
“[O]ne of the saddest things we’re seeing is our colleges and universities are trying really hard to raise a generation of pansies,” he said.
Speaking of which, what might you call someone who — while wearing designer clothes worth hundreds or thousands of dollars — complains about feeling oppressed?
Listen to their back-and-forth exchange below:
His point had been that future generations of Americans are being brought up weak and soft, to the point that they see oppression and even “fascism” where none actually exists. And sadly, it appears Taylor is among those who’ve been brainwashed to buy into this ideology of victimhood.
For example, three months ago she cried “sexism” after a reporter dared to ask her if she’d like to have children one day given as she’s about to turn 30 in December.
“A German interviewer asked her during her promotional tour for ‘ME!’ if, according to translations, she was at a ‘kind of turning point in your life? Would you like to be a mother someday, have children?'” MSN reported at the time.
She replied by throwing a fit.
“I really do not think men are asked that question when they turn 30,” she said. “So I’m not going to answer that now.”
While that’s true, there’s a biological reason for that.
“A woman’s best reproductive years are in her 20s,” the American Society for Reproductive Medicine notes. “Fertility gradually declines in the 30s, particularly after age 35. Each month that she tries, a healthy, fertile 30-year-old woman has a 20% chance of getting pregnant.”
“That means that for every 100 fertile 30-year-old women trying to get pregnant in 1 cycle, 20 will be successful and the other 80 will have to try again. By age 40, a woman’s chance is less than 5% per cycle, so fewer than 5 out of every 100 women are expected to be successful each month.”
These are called facts. It’s unclear whether Swift believes facts too are oppressive …
