Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-TX) is in hot water after tweeting a graphic that revealed the information of donors to President Donald Trump’s presidential campaign within San Antonio.
“Sad to see so many San Antonians as 2019 maximum donors to Donald Trump — the owner of @BillMillerBarBQ, owner of the @HistoricPearl, realtor Phyllis Browning, etc. Their contributions are fueling a campaign of hate that labels Hispanic immigrants as ‘invaders,'” Castro tweeted.

Facing criticism that sharing such a graphic could encourage violence against these individuals, Castro attempted to defend himself in an interview on MSNBC.
Asked what he has to say to the actual donors included in the graphic who likely feel it’s unfair that they could be harassed following Castro’s tweet, the Texas congressman squirmed and said, “The first thing is, I don’t want anybody harassed or targeted.”
When he was told that the donors will most definitely be harassed because of the public gathering and sharing of their information, Castro began squirming and proved his backbone did not follow him to Congress.
Castro continued, “Look, that was not my intention, but these things are public.”
He added, “What I would like for [these donors] to do is think twice about supporting a guy who is fueling hate in this country.”

He later tried to defend himself by saying that the information is already public, so anything he does with the information doesn’t matter.
“They’re already public. They’re already out there…this was already circulating, so I shared it. I didn’t create the graphic,” he said.
This is disgusting. Castro did not retweet the graphic. He tweeted it himself, yet he is unwilling to take responsibility for it. He says he wants these donors to “think twice” about the way they vote as if he were walking straight out of a Scorsese gangster movie, but then he weasels his way out of responsibility by saying he doesn’t want them harassed.
Which is it, congressman? Are you trying to intimidate these people or not?
Castro’s spineless action and his pathetic excuses for it have obviously been causing a firestorm online.

“‘I want them to think twice.’ Meaning, you used your large public platform to incite harassment on civilian political opponents to intimidate them into not supporting your opponents,” another Twitter user wrote.
Another responded, “Castro is absolute scum.”
“It was a public record but used to incite hate against Trump supporters. Democrats do what they accuse,” replied another.
Castro later took to Twitter and attempted to defend himself yet again. If he really did nothing wrong, folks, he wouldn’t be working this hard to convince us.
“My post was a lament – that so many people in my overwhelmingly Hispanic hometown would give large money to a President who is using it to target Hispanics as ‘invaders’. No one was doxxed — no private address or phone #s were shared. I’ve never engaged in that,” the congressman tweeted.
