De Blasio manages to tick-off more constituents, makes them sit on tarmac so he can deplane for ‘The View’

Flying is never a whole lot of fun. By the time your plane touches down, you usually want to get off as quickly as possible, stretch your legs and get to wherever you’re going.

If you were a passenger on a recent Delta flight with the mayor of New York City, you had no such luxury.

Bill de Blasio is being slammed for making Delta passengers wait in their seats on the tarmac for 10 minutes at LaGuardia Airport so he could deplane first. The mayor was flying back from Wednesday’s CNN presidential debate in Detroit, Michigan.

Why was de Blasio in such a rush? Did he have important issues to deal with?

Not really. He just needed to make it to a taping of ABC’s “The View” in midtown.

When Flight 788 landed at noon, a stewardess came on the intercom to tell passengers to remain seated because people in the back of the plane — where De Blasio and his staff were seated — needed to exit right away.

While the wait was reportedly just 10 minutes it didn’t quell the anger aimed at de Blasio.

“This is just a continuation of the rudeness and the bluntness of his performance last night,” one of the flight’s passengers told the New York Post.

“It’s par for the course, par for the course,” said another.

A reporter for the Post seated on the plane actually asked the mayor’s campaign spokeswoman if de Blasio would be willing to answer a question on 900 New York schools recently testing positive for exposed lead paint. She said no.

On top of exiting the plane first, de Blasio was also the last passenger to board the plane when it took off. He was reportedly five minutes late for the flight.

“I don’t think it’s the best thing because we all have places to go,” said Ronald Watson about the mayor.

This is typical de Blasio. Putting himself before anyone else, which is not how you want an elected official to act.

Some people on that flight may have had connections they had to rush to, family emergencies, any of a million possibilities that the mayor simply did not care about. There’s plenty of reasons why this man should not be president, and this is just another one.

In another display of arrogance, de Blasio campaign spokeswoman Jaclyn Rothenberg told the Post about the mayor getting on the plane last, “The mayor was at the departure gate on time and didn’t make the plane late, he just prefers to board last.”

Folks on Twitter have been responding as they usually do to de Blasio news: with scorn.

“Complete scum,” one user wrote in response.

“That surely won him some support, didn’t it?” replied another.

Yet another tweeted, “No wonder people can’t stand him. What a selfish person. Whatever airline did that should be fined.”

This all followed de Blasio having a terrible debate performance. The mayor was at one point heckled by protesters screaming, “fire Pantaleo” which happened again on Friday during a presser. The protesters were referring to NYPD officer Daniel Pantaleo, who fatally choked Eric Garner five years ago. The officer is awaiting the results of an administrative trial.
