Young conservative commentator Tomi Lahren is facing criticism from the left and right for saying what may very well be the truth about Democrat presidential candidate Sen. Kamala Harris — albeit saying it in a way that they apparently believe was sleazy and inartful.
“Kamala did you fight for ideals or did you sleep your way to the top with Willie Brown?” the 26-year-old Fox News contributor bluntly tweeted during the Democrat presidential primary debate Wednesday.
Kamala did you fight for ideals or did you sleep your way to the top with Willie Brown?
— Tomi Lahren (@TomiLahren) August 1, 2019
The bold tweet triggered widespread outrage, including from her fellow Fox News personalities.
Look:
I am curious to know what you think bringing a woman’s personal/sexual life into this accomplishes. Men do that to us enough as it is. I’m honestly asking. https://t.co/MgO0yMrAHT
— Kat Timpf (@KatTimpf) August 1, 2019
Do you have any idea how damaging this is to women who’ve actually been sexually harassed, assaulted or demeaned in the workplace? How much this weakens our own gender, regardless of partisanship. My goodness.

**Update: Fox Nation’s Tomi Lahren released a statement apologizing for her “choice of words”:
I apologize for my comment on Kamala’s personal relationship. It was the wrong choice of words. There are many other things to take her to task for and I will stick to those.
— Tomi Lahren (@TomiLahren) August 1, 2019
But before Lahren’s apology, the firestorm grew as unnamed Fox personalities also reportedly complained privately to CNN senior reporter Oliver Darcy.
“I did hear from several Fox employees who reached out to me on their own accord,” he revealed in CNN chief media correspondent Brian Stelter’s daily evening newsletter.
“‘It makes me sick that I work for the same company as Tomi Lahren,’ one Fox employee told me. ‘Mindblowing how we give this woman a job.’ Another employee texted me the URL to Lahren’s tweet, calling it ‘unacceptable.'”
It’s unclear whether Kat Timpf, Britt McHenry or the Fox personalities with whom Oliver spoke have ever once complained publicly about the left-wing media personalities who’ve spent years relentlessly mocking first lady Melania Trump for her former career as a model (or hooker, as they’ve falsely claimed more than once) and bashing President Donald Trump over his scandal- and affair-plagued sexual history.
Take CNN. Last year the network devoted an entire segment to talking about the president’s penis. Meanwhile, CNN-friendly gossip queen Michael Wolff spread rumors that then-Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley was having an affair with the president.
Yet members of CNN, including Darcy and Stelter, were among the first to complain about Lahren’s tweet:
This kind of commentary is really reprehensible. https://t.co/qOl2djsxlk
— Oliver Darcy (@oliverdarcy) August 1, 2019
And in his daily newsletter, Stelter referred to the tweet as “repugnant.” It’s unclear why neither Stelter nor Darcy feel the same way about their own network’s sleazy and inartful history.
Besides the hypocrisy, what’s also notable about the criticism being lobbed at Lahren is the apparent aversion to the facts, which is that the commentator’s tweets are rooted in reality.
A week after Harris announced her candidacy back in January, former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown published an op-ed to the San Francisco Chronicle revealing that the two had once partaken in an affair — one that “may have influenced her career.”
“Yes, we dated,” he wrote. “It was more than 20 years ago. Yes, I may have influenced her career by appointing her to two state commissions when I was Assembly speaker. And I certainly helped with her first race for district attorney in San Francisco.”
Brown, thirty years her senior, reportedly rewarded Harris with two lucrative appointments, earning her over $400,000 in a five year period. He also gifted her with a BMW.
While this isn’t definitive proof that Harris did indeed “sleep [her] way to the top,” it’s certainly suggestive of it.
“Willie Brown, of course, was California’s most powerful politician, which might have had something to do with why Harris was out ‘dating’ the married man twice her age,” conservative commentator Monica Showalter noted in a column at the time Brown’s op-ed was published.
Outspoken comedian Roseanne Barr kept it even more blunt during an appearance four months ago on conservative activist Candace Owen’s Prager University show.
“Look at Kamala Harris, who I call Kama Sutra Harris,” she said during a discussion with Owens about the #MeToo movement. “We all know what she did … she slept her way to the bottom. There was a time as a feminist that we don’t do that. We have respect for ourselves and we stick together. But that all went to hell too.”
Interestingly, these same sorts of points and opinions have been reflected back to Timpf and McHenry on social media, where their followers haven’t exactly taken kindly to their criticisms of Lahren.
Look:
Interesting, Democrats were thrilled with NON-STOP coverage of @realDonaldTrump ‘s sexual allegations.
Spare me the MEN do it enough, @MichaelAvenatti was weaponized by @CNN / @MSNBC non-stop sexual accusations.

I think Kamala brought her own slutty behavior into the conversation a long time ago.

Sorry, but I think there is a HUGE difference between “a woman’s personal sex life” and the married guy you’re banging getting you your first two big government jobs.
And this is from a guy who doesn’t give one iota of a damn what consenting adults do in their bedrooms.
— BonkPolitics (@BonkPolitics) August 1, 2019
Wouldn’t being the woman who sleeps her way to the top (Harris) be most responsible for weakening the gender? ? When the left obsessed over Trumps sex life for 2 years, this officially became fair game.
— Robert Daily (@RobertCDaily) August 1, 2019
IMO, if she screwed her way to the top, it’s relevant. Compounded by the fact that he was married. So much for sisterhood. Or, do Dems consider that female empowerment?
— NJSayWhat (@NJSayWhat) August 1, 2019
A lot of pearl clutching from someone who berated and demeaned a female parking lot attendant (specifically calling out her brain/education , teeth/appearance, weight, education, & job/workplace…did I forget anything?)
My goodness indeed…
— Robert Daily (@RobertCDaily) August 1, 2019
The latter tweet was directed at McHenry, who, prior to joining Fox, was suspended from ESPN after a video of her berating a parking lot attendant with an “I’m better than you” rant went viral.
