Harris shines up her size large flip flops in preparation for debate

Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) flops around on policy so much in her presidential run you’d think she was a fish out of water.

The top-tier candidate was one of eight Democrats at last month’s primary debate who raised their hand when asked if they supported decriminalizing border crossings, but then she backtracked on that position — only to then reverse course and backtrack on the backtrack to say she was in favor of it.

Appearing recently on “The View,” Harris was asked about her position on the issue by co-host Meghan McCain.

“I’m going to try to make this as quick and dirty as possible,” McCain said. “You’re for decriminalizing border crossings, you’re one of the people that raised your hand at the debate. Do you agree with [Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez] that we should get rid of [the Department of Homeland Security] altogether?”

Harris first denied the premise, then admitted it.

“That is not correct,” she said. “I am not in favor of decriminalizing … Let me just be very clear: we have to have a secure border. But I am in favor of saying that we’re not going to treat people who are undocumented, cross the borders as criminals, that is correct. That is correct.”

Talk about doublespeak.

Pivoting away from where she stood, Harris tried to shift the focus onto President Trump in an emotional appeal about children in cages.

“What we cannot do is have any more policy like we have under this current president that is about inhumane conduct, that is about putting babies in cages,” she said. “That is about separating children from their parents and we have got to have policy that is about passing comprehensive immigration reform with a pathway toward citizenship.”

When McCain pressed, telling Harris her views were “a little confusing,” the senator explained that she would make crossing the border illegally a civil infraction  — which is decriminalizing it.

“I would not make it punishable by jail,” Harris said. “It should be a civil enforcement issue, but not a criminal enforcement issue.”

One issue Harris is not confused on is giving illegal immigrants health care coverage, as she joined with her fellow Democrats in saying she wholeheartedly supports this.

As for getting rid of Homeland Security, she’s not quite there with the other radicals in her party.

“We need to restructure and reform it,” Harris explained. “It has been found through federal audits to be one of the most dysfunctional of the federal agencies, so we need to deal with it and fix it, but I do not believe in getting rid of it.”

Ahead of the next Democratic primary debate, Harris announced her updated stance on Medicare.

Despite being a co-sponsor of Bernie Sanders’ single-payer health plan, which is called “Medicare for All,” Harris alters from that plan by supporting a continuing role for private insurance.

In her dust-up with former Vice President Joe Biden on busing that got lots of media coverage, Harris again appeared to flip-flop on a policy position.

Despite being critical of Biden for his previous opposition to federally mandated busing to integrate schools, Harris espoused the same stance days later, according to Fox News.

“I think of busing as being in the toolbox of what is available and what can be used for the goal of desegregating America’s schools,” Harris said.

When pressed on whether she believes in federally mandated busing, she replied, “I believe that any tool that is in the toolbox should be considered by a school district.”
