Ah, those crazy Cannucks.
While streaming a press conference on a very serious matter, a double homicide, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police inadvertently included a “cat filter,” which attached cat ears and whiskers to the police officer speaking.

The crime involved the killing of an American woman and her Australian boyfriend.
Sgt. Janelle Shoihet, Media Relations Officer for the Royal Mounted Canadian Police of British Columbia, identified the victims in a release as Chynna Noelle Deese, from the U.S., and Lucas Robertson Fowler from Australia.
The Facebook Live video was automatically set to apply the cat filter, the BC RCMP explained afterwards — they also apologized for the error, according to The Hill.
“Yes we are aware and addressing it as it’s an automatic setting,” said a tweet from the law enforcement agency. “Thank you, we will rectify and issue a video shortly.”

But even that was ridiculed by snarky Twitter users — one asked, “Are you going to fix that right meow?”

Not that folks are looking to make light of the death of two people. In fact, given the gravity of the situation, the cat filter stood out even more as a major blunder.
The real question being who is the sap who altered the settings to automatically add the cat ears and whiskers?
As bad as it was, for one social media user, it was “Still better” than Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau breaking out some awkward dance moves while in India.

Another social media user commented on how the family of the deceased must feel about the blunder — this being the same folks they must rely on to solve the terrible crime.
“Honestly, devastated families are watching these clowns beclown themselves; they’re reliant on them to solve the murders,” the tweet read.

Directing their snark at the Mounted Police, many of the jokes wrote themselves for social media users.
