Trump keeps going; tweets label squad ‘Wack Jobs’ and ‘The Four Horsewomen of the Apocalypse’

Sen. John Kennedy, R-La., came to President Donald Trump’s defense Tuesday during an appearance on Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” ripping the “so-called ‘squad’” of four radical freshman Democrat “whack jobs” who are “destroying the Democratic Party.”

The biting criticism then got a presidential boost, reaching Trump-level attention on Twitter when President Trump retweeted a paraphrased quote from the senator, who also called the hard-left quartet “the four horsewomen of the Apocalypse.”

In a series of three posts, Trump tweeted:

“In America, if you hate our Country, you are free to leave. The simple fact of the matter is, the four Congresswomen think that America is wicked in its origins, they think that America is even more wicked now, that we are all racist and evil. They’re entitled to their opinion, they’re Americans. Now I’m entitled to my opinion, & I just think they’re left wing cranks. They’re the reason there are directions on a shampoo bottle, & we should ignore them. The “squad” has moved the Democrat Party substantially LEFT, and they are destroying the Democrat Party. I’m appalled that so many of our Presidential candidates are falling all over themselves to try to agree with the four horsewomen of the apocalypse. I’m entitled to say that they’re Wack Jobs.” Louisiana Senator John Kennedy

The play on the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse is from the Book of Revelation, of course. The four figures symbolize the evils to come at the end of the world: a figure rides a white horse; war, a red horse; famine, a black horse; death, and a pale horse; plague.

Kennedy did question the wisdom of exchanging “playground insults” with the four freshman, saying that “when you try to argue with a fool, that proves there’s two.”

He stressed that he did not see the president’s tweets as racist, but said it may have been a poor choice of words, which is why Trump went back to clarify what he said.

And the message that ensued, which Trump tweeted in part, bears a full look because Kennedy nailed exactly what Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., and Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass., are all about.

“What he has said now in clarification is that this is not China,” Kennedy said. “This is America, and in America, if you hate our country, you are free to leave. Now he said that in response to the behavior of the four congresswomen that you are talking about, the so-called ‘squad.’”

“The simple fact of the matter is that the four congresswomen think that America was wicked in its origins,” he said to host Tucker Carlson. “They think that America and its people are even more wicked now, that we are all racist and misogynistic, and evil.”

“They’re entitled to their opinion, they’re Americans,” the senator continued. “But I’m entitled to my opinion, and I just think they’re left-wing cranks and they’re the reason that there are directions on a shampoo bottle. I think we should ignore them.”

Carlson commented about the Democratic Party putting itself in position to own the behavior of these four women, questioning whether that is a massive mistake.

“Well, there’s no question that the so-called squad has moved the Democratic Party substantially left,” Kennedy said. “What I was referring to is, I guess, rule number one in political combat: never interrupt your opponent when he’s  screwing up. Just let him.”

“And they destroying the Democratic Party,” he added. “I’m appalled that so many of our [Democratic] presidential candidates are falling all over themselves to try to agree with the four horsewomen of the apocalypse.”

“Now they’re entitled to their opinion, but I’m entitled to say that they’re whack jobs.”
