A Virginia church is getting President Donald Trump’s back in the midst of his verbal feud with several Democrat members of Congress.
Following the president telling the leftist members of Congress that they can leave America anytime they want to if they don’t like it, the Friendship Baptist Church in Appomattox, Virginia put a sign outside that read: “America: Love it or Leave It.”
“I thought I was going to make some remarks regarding the situation in Washington,” Pastor E.W. Lucas told ABC13 about the sign. “It just came to me … America, I love it. If you don’t love it, leave it.”
The pastor has put up personalized signs since he started his church in 1979.
“People that feel hard about our president and want to down the president, and down the country and everything, they ought to go over there and live in these other countries for a little while,” he said about his latest sign.
Lucas said he’s going to keep the sign up for some time. Despite some criticism on social media, the pastor said he’s gotten some “favorable comments” about the sign.
“Since we’ve had favorable comments on it, I thought I’d just leave it a while,” he said. “Preachers, by and large, today, are afraid they’re gonna hurt somebody’s feelings, and when I get in the pulpit, I’m afraid I won’t hurt somebody’s feelings.”

Appomattox resident William Thompson told ABC13 said about the sign, “It’s up to each individual person. Ultimately, if we have problems, we should try to fix it.”
He added, “Support is the biggest thing we need. Support and fix.”
People have been taking to social media to support Pastor Lucas and his sign and to express shock over such a simple sign creating “controversy.”
“Why should it spark controversy ??? It’s the truth !!!!!” one user wrote.
Another responded, “Ohhh, but if ‘Impeach the morherf*cker’ was on a sign, it would be praised and rewarded financially and all over the news.”
Trump’s feud with Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and Ayanna Pressley has grown quite heated in the past few days. The president originally drew backlash for saying that the women — all of whom consistently complain about America and capitalism — can return to the “places from which they came” if they don’t like the United States.
“Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came,” he said. “Then come back and show us how it is done. These places need your help badly, you can’t leave fast enough. I’m sure that Nancy Pelosi would be very happy to quickly work out free travel arrangements!”
Trump has doubled down on his comments on Twitter and in talks with the press since then. He has even suggested that the four women “hate our country … with a passion.”
In a recent series of tweets, Trump said the four lawmakers are “destroying the Democrat Party” and he referred to them as “the four horsewomen of the apocalypse.”
The four congresswomen — who have been referred to as the “freshman four” or the “squad” — have responded by calling the president “bigoted” and “xenophobic.” They have encouraged his impeachment and Omar even said Trump’s administration is the “most corrupt” in U.S. history.
