While the media and progressive lawmakers are desperately calling on everyone with a heartbeat to denounce Trump as some sort of vile racist who hates women of color, there are some Republicans who are refusing to back down in their support for Trump.
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy sparked major outrage when he declined to condemn the president’s controversial “squad” tweets, which many are being forced to deem racist or face media outrage.
When asked by a member of the media about the infamous social media postings, McCarthy said he doesn’t believe Trump is racist any more than he thinks Nancy Pelosi is racist, simply because “The Squad” said so.
“I believe this is about ideology,” McCarthy stated. “This is about socialism versus freedom. And it’s very clear what the debate is happening.”
NEW: Asked if Pres. Trump’s tweets telling congresswomen of color to “go back” to where they came from were racist, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy answers, “No.”

President Trump took to Twitter to express his appreciation for McCarthy and even claim that the GOP lawmaker will be voting “NO” on the resolution condemning the controversial tweets.
“Kevin McCarthy @GOPLeader, ‘The President’s Tweets were not Racist. The controversy over the tweets is ALL POLITICS. I will vote against this resolution.’ Thank you Kevin!” Trump exclaimed, to the dismay of the easily outraged.

One Twitter user claimed that the president’s use of “go back to your country” was about trying to make Americans feel “unwelcome in their own home.”
“Go Back To Your Country” has NOTHING to do with freedom, but everything to do with racism and making AMERICANS feel unwelcome in their own home.

Another goes as far as to claim that Trump supporters have “sold their souls to the devil.” Hyperbole, much?
Trump’s defenders have all sold their souls to the devil. They don’t believe what they say themselves, they just hope the GOP cult believes it.

And you already know that someone pulled out the race card, invalidating the opinions of all white people because of the I said so rule.
Asking a white man/woman about this question is #ludicrous. If ur not of ethnic background, how could u possibly know the difference. It doesn’t matter what ur political affiliation is. #shameful #embarrassment #ushouldknow

The text of the resolution condemning Trump’s tweets invokes the names of our founding fathers (some of whom Democrats have deemed “racist” and “sexist” just like they do with Trump,) and “strongly condemns President Donald Trump’s racist comments that have legitimized and increased fear and hatred of new Americans and people of color by saying that our fellow Americans who are immigrants, and those who may look to the President like immigrants, should ‘‘go back’’ to other countries, by referring to immigrants and asylum seekers as ‘‘invaders,’’ and by saying that Members of Congress who are immigrants (or those of our colleagues who are wrongly assumed to be immigrants) do not belong in Congress or in the United States of America.”
Regardless of where you stand on Trump’s tweets, it’s obvious that this is a fire that’s going to burn for quite some time.
