‘Progressive’ immigration activist pastor sues ICE, DHS for being placed in government database

Rev. Kaji Douša has announced she is suing the Department of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Protection and Immigration and Customs Enforcement after being placed on a watch list of journalists and immigrant rights activists — see open border left.

Douša, senior pastor of the Park Avenue Christian Church, which describes itself as “one of the most vibrant and progressive communities of faith in New York City,” is accusing the government of violating her First Amendment rights and the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, according to Buzzfeed News.

By being placed in a government database along with dozens of other immigration “activists” camped on the southern border, Douša claims that she was subjected to surveillance and interrogation.

(It could be argued that this cabal of open border liberals, along with the Democratic Party, serve as a siren, drawing impoverished Central Americans to the U.S. border by the hundreds of thousands, with the assurance there’s a vast network in place to look out for their interests and assist them in taking advantage of our broken immigration system.)

This happening while she is “ministering” to illegal immigrants overwhelming the southern border, many seeking asylum — the vast majority are not approved, yet end up being released into the country anyway because of our archaic immigration laws.

An agent asked Douša whether she encouraged asylum-seekers to lie on applications and if she was involved in illegal activity, Buzzfeed News reported.

The complaint stated: “They interrogated her about her motives. They interrogated her about her associations. They revealed to Pastor Douša that they had collected detailed information about her and her pastoral work. And they revoked the access she had previously been granted to expedited border crossing.”

Douša is being represent by Protect Democracy, headed up by Ian Bassin, a former associate White House counsel for the Obama administration.

San Diego NBC 7 reported in March that it had received leaked documents that show the government had a database of activists, journalists, and social media influencers tied to a migrant caravan.

A Homeland Security spokesperson explained that the list was compiled following the rush on the U.S. border, where hundreds of illegal immigrants who were part of a huge caravan from Central America tried to force their way into the United States at the San Ysidro Port of Entry in south San Diego County, NBC affiliate WDSU reported back in March.

“Criminal events, such as the breach of the border wall in San Diego, involving assaults on law enforcement and a risk to public safety, are routinely monitored and investigated by authorities,” the spokesperson said. “These activities could result in a more thorough review of those seeking entrance into our country.”

“It is protocol following these incidents to collect evidence that might be needed for future legal actions and to determine if the event was orchestrated,” they continued. “CBP and our law enforcement partners evaluate these incidents, follow all leads garnered from information collected, conduct interviews and investigations, in preparation for, and often to prevent future incidents that could cause further harm to the public, our agents, and our economy. ”

As for Rev. Douša’s stance on immigration, the tweet she shared below talking about the “dehumanizing impact” of President Trump’s views on sanctuary cities sums it up well.
