With this radical, hard-left freshman class of Democrats, it’s becoming crystal clear that facts do not stand in the way in pushing their progressive agenda.
Following last week’s theater of the absurd from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortes, D-N.Y., who claimed migrants are being forced to drink from the toilet — they’re not — fellow freshman Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., admitted that she flubbed some facts while speaking with a group of high school students.
Omar, a Somali refugee and one of the first two Muslim women elected to Congress, was expressing her disappointment in America and how the country that took her in failed to live up to her expectations to about 400 Richfield High School students in Minneapolis.
She was recalling an incident that occurred about five years ago, when she was a city councilman, when a “sweet, old… African American lady” who was jailed for a whole weekend for stealing a $2 loaf of bread to feed her “starving 5-year-old granddaughter,” according to the Washington Post.
The congresswoman with a history of anti-Semitic behavior told the students that the woman was then fined $80 after being released.
“Bulls—!” she recalled yelling in the courtroom, prompting laughter from some of the students over the expletive, the newspaper noted.
“I couldn’t control my emotions, because I couldn’t understand how a roomful of educated adults could do something so unjust,” Omar told students.
And while wide-eyed high school students were likely taking it all in as gospel, even the Washington Post struggled with the plot line.
Omar’s story echoed the plot of “Les Miserables.” If true, it is also probably embellished. City officials said that police aren’t allowed to arrest people for shoplifting unless there’s a likelihood of violence or further crime. Typically, shoplifters are sentenced to attend a three-hour class.
In an interview, Omar said she may have flubbed some facts. “She might have had a prior [arrest],” Omar said. “I’m not sure. . . . The details might not have all matched, but that’s what I remember.”
But then, as Ocasio-Cortez has already established, it’s more important to be “morally right” than “factually … correct.”
The incident just adds to Omar’s growing record of controversy.
Just this week, Omar joined ranks with Ocasio-Cortez in going after Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
The California Democrat was critical of four radical freshman Democrats who voted against last week’s $4.6 billion border bill — along with Ocasio-Cortez and Omar, Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., and Rep. Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass., make up the four women of color who are lightening fast in playing the race card to counter criticism.
“All these people have their public whatever and their Twitter world … They’re four people and that’s how many votes they got,” Pelosi said.
Ocasio-Cortez was quick to hit back, with Omar backing her play on “WHO is wielding the power to shift public sentiment.”

There is also the story about Omar’s convoluted marriage history that won’t go away, no matter how hard the national media tries to ignore it.
Omar filed a joint tax return with a man she was living with while still married to a man suspected of being her sibling.
