Samantha Lillian Elaine Pollara, a Pete Guttigieg campaign staffer, has apologized to Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) for publicly wishing that he would be assaulted with urine.
Gaetz was assaulted with a milkshake last month and Pollara commented on a story about it on social media saying that she hoped next time the congressman was hit with urine, instead of just a milkshake.
“Please, please let it be urine next time,” she wrote. She added crossed finger emojis to her comment.
Gaetz noticed the comment and tried to get Buttigieg’s campaign to take notice of it.
“Hey @PeteButtigieg — this is a reply from a member of your campaign inciting (rather gross) violence against me after someone previously threw a drink on me. Is this what your campaign stands for?” Gaetz tweeted along with a screenshot of Pollara’s urine comment.

Gaetz also tweeted out Pollara’s profile.

The congressman later revealed that Pollara actually called him to personally apologize for the comment.
“Samantha gave me a very nice call and apology. That is how reasonable people behave and it’s certainly good enough for me,” he tweeted.

A milkshake was thrown at Gaetz by Amanda Kondrat’yev — who ran against the congressman in 2016 — when Gaetz was leaving a restaurant. The congressman may be ready to let Pollara’s comment slide, but he has made it clear that he will not stand for the assault on him.
“If there are no consequences, then maybe it is me getting hit with a drink one time, but what if it’s a member of my staff?” the congressman told Fox News’ Sean Hannity.
He added, “What if [next time], instead of a drink, it’s acid or urine or something else like that?”
Pollara may have apologized to Gaetz, but it’s a bit of a surprise to see her making such comments in the first place since she has worked on the Florida political scene for some time now. She worked for now-Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried and Attorney General candidate Sean Shaw in 2018.
She also worked as the finance director on Jane Castor’s successful bid for Tampa Mayor.
Buttigieg’s campaign has not officially commented on the situation between Pollara and Gaetz.
Gaetz is currently facing an ethics investigation following comments he made about Donald Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen and the man’s alleged “girlfriends.”

Gaetz has apologized for the comments publicly.
“I want to say publicly what I’ve said privately to Michael Cohen and to his family, that I’m sorry,” the congressman said in March on “The Story.” “It’s entirely appropriate to test the truthfulness of a witness, but that could’ve been done in a way that didn’t invoke someone’s family, and I shouldn’t have done it.”
Gaetz has said the investigation into him shows a “double standard” and that it’s entirely political.
“We’ve got members of Congress — Maxine Waters actually incited violence against Republicans and supporters of the president,” he said.
He added, “I guess when a Republican says something that might go a little over the line, it might be treated a little differently.”
