When was the last time that mainstream news media outlets ran headline stories about the death of a single, random American citizen? Take your time …
The media never run headline stories about random deceased Americans, except in rare cases where someone dies because of something stunning, such as a lightning strike.
Yet as the bulk of the global media turned their attention to President Donald Trump’s historic moment with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un early Sunday morning, many in the American media focused their attention on the death of a random illegal alien or “migrant.”
“A 43-year-old El Salvadoran man who crossed into the U.S. with his daughter collapsed at a border station and later died at a hospital, officials said Saturday,” the Associated Press reported Saturday evening.
“The man had been held about a week at the Rio Grande Valley central processing center in McAllen, Texas, according to a law enforcement official. The official said the man, who had health issues, had been medically checked.”
The story quickly went viral and was shared by numerous news outlets:

But why is this news? Not to dismiss the El Salvadoran man’s tragic death, but why is the death of a single, random man — a non-citizen at that — of consequence? Moreover, why aren’t the daily deaths of countless American citizens of equal consequence?
Were there any reports from the national media when Maine resident James “Jim” Hollaway, a Navy veteran, died last Tuesday? No.
Were there any reports from the national media when Wisconsin resident Lois Ann Schomers, who’d spent part of her retirement volunteering at a local church, died last Wednesday? No.
Were there any reports from the national media when Utah residents Blake Dee Taylor, Paul Earl Scott, June Ruth Johnson, Bryan Trevor Kennedy, Matthew James Sorensen, Oliver Storer, Kathleen Lund Dahmer, Matthew Maluhia Wayas, Charles Leonard Ray, Jeanne Goodrich Richman, Jennie CLAVELL Brown Raty and Bryan Trevor Kennedy all died last week?
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no and no.
Question: What makes the life of the unnamed illegal alien or “migrant” more important than the lives of these bonafide American citizens?
The only possible answer appears to be that the death of the illegal alien or “migrant” involves the Trump administration, for he’d been in the administration’s custody when he died.
And according to many among the far-left, including those in Congress and those in the media, any time that an illegal alien or “migrant” dies either while in custody or while crossing into the United States, it’s Trump’s fault — even when it’s demonstrably not:

These families seeking asylum are often fleeing extreme violence. And what happens when they arrive? Trump says, ‘Go back to where you came from.’ That is inhumane. Children are dying. This is a stain on our moral conscience. https://t.co/NHly7QTiAq

We should not look away. These are the consequences of Donald Trump’s inhumane and immoral immigration policy. This is being done in our name. https://t.co/mZQnREOjV0

What’s notable is that the media rarely, if ever, ran headlines about the death of random illegal aliens or “migrants” during the administration of then-President Barack Hussein Obama.
“During the Obama-Biden administration, 535 migrants died in one Texas county alone — Brooks County,” Breitbart, a member of the non-establishment conservative media, reported last week.
That story was ignored by the mainstream media but not by Breitbart.
The outlet went on to identify a myriad of other Obama-era instances during which it was one of the few, lone outlets to report on the deaths of multiple illegal aliens.
Example from 2016: “The dead bodies of 53 illegal immigrants have been found in one Texas county after crossing the border this year. The remains of the 53, mostly Mexican and Central American nationals, represent an increase over 2015 numbers despite an effort by local, state, and federal law enforcement officials.”
Google the story, and you won’t find a single instance of the media covering the deaths of these 53 illegal aliens. But you’ll find plenty of stories about the recent deaths of individual illegal aliens or “migrants” during the ongoing Trump years.
The media likewise stayed mum when the Human Rights Watch condemned the Obama administration in 2016 for the deaths of 18 migrants who died while in federal custody.
Yet the same media that ignored the deaths and abuses under Obama are now writing headline after headline after headline after headline every single time an individual illegal alien or “migrant” dies.
To call this insane would be an understatement!
