‘Crime happens’: Castro’s response to woman whose SS# was stolen by illegal immigrant epitomizes Dems

With polling numbers next to zero, Julián Castro took part Thursday in a Fox News town hall and the hard-left progressive didn’t do much to inject desperately needed life into his 2020 presidential aspirations.

Turns out, the former secretary of Housing and Urban Development under President Barack Obama kept getting tripped up on the issue of illegal immigration.

Unable to give a direct answer when moderator Martha MacCallum asked if there was anyone he wouldn’t let in the country, Castro added to his woes in responding to a question about illegal aliens engaging in identity theft.

“Crime happens,” said Castro, whose mother was a member of the radical nationalist organization La Raza Unida.

The town hall was held in Tempe, Ariz., and in taking questions from the audience, Castro was asked by Phoenix resident Jessica Welch if he would back not releasing illegal aliens if they were arrested for a crime. Welch explained that her social security number was stolen by someone in the country illegally and he disappeared after being released on his own recognizance.

“Let me begin the answer to that question by saying look, all of us know as human beings that regardless of circumstance, whether people are rich or poor, no matter the color of their skin, what their background is, that people commit crimes,” said Castro. “Crime happens.”

Naturally, with feelings reigning supreme on the left, he apologized to Welch for her being victimized.

Castro rambled on with his answer, never agreeing with the woman’s position to prevent the release of illegal immigrants suspected of a crime.

“I have said very clearly that if somebody commits a crime like that, they should be punished for that,” he told Welch. “It doesn’t matter who you are. Whether you’re an American citizen, whether you’re not an American citizen, whether you’re undocumented, if somebody commits that kind of crime, then of course, I believe that that person should be punished.”

Launching into a pro-illegal immigration sermon, Castro attacked the Trump administration for its handling of what is now a flood of foreign nationals invading our southern border, with numbers already in the hundreds of thousands this year.

“What I don’t believe is that we should be incarcerating these women and children who are fleeing desperate circumstances in those countries and simply are looking for a better life, and then we’re keeping them in cages like animals,” Castro preached. “And keeping these men in 100 degree heat, underneath a bridge, they’re fenced in like animals, like a dog pound basically.”

He would go on to give the standard Democratic Party lip service about securing the border, but if his party was serious about the issue, migrants wouldn’t be coming by the hundreds of thousands.

In his passionate advocacy for illegal aliens, Castro lost sight of a U.S.citizen being victimized, which is the epitome of how, for Democrats, the interests of U.S. citizens come second here.

Here’s a sampling of the responses from Twitter that suggest the obvious, that Castro “doesn’t care” about what happened to Welch:
