Bill Maher went off on his audience on Friday night’s show after they cheered Rep. Katie Porter, D-Calif., dissing him big league while discussing abortions.
“First of all, f*ck you,” Maher told the crowd. “You can go watch another show.”
That it was a liberal audience was more or less confirmed when they remained in their seats.
The discussion started out about former Vice President Joe Biden flipping his stance on the Hyde Amendment, which bans the use of federal funds to pay for abortions — a decision that reportedly came after the campaign discussed the issue with left-wing actress/activist Alyssa Milano.
(Not that it helped Biden with hard-left progressives like Porter.)
“I mean look, I am pro-choice, but I mean, I’m a little squishy and always have been because they told my mother after my sister, very difficult birth, she shouldn’t have another one,” Maher said.
Wow @RepKatiePorter out-funnied Bill Maher on his own show. Maher said he's "squishy" on choice because his mom almost didn't have him, and Porter absolutely brought down the house with this response pic.twitter.com/F6WDDfYSqQ

“So knowing that I could have been on the cutting room floor, I’m…” Maher said, the pregnant pause that followed betraying the timing of a comedian.
But his patience paid off, as the audience laughed at the notion — we’re to assume he was expecting a show of disappointment.
“What? What? Why is that so terrible?” Maher said, with a smile. “But I get it, as long as it’s still in you…”
“Look, your mom made her choice,” Porter interjected. “And we’re all here with the consequences of that choice.”
The audience erupted in laughter, as Maher stared back with a look of shock on his face — real or not.
“First of all, f*ck you, you can go watch another show,” the host said as he sprang to his feet. “We got a lot [of shows] on the lot here if I’m not doing it for you.”
As Maher protested, Porter continued, “I just want to say, God bless Mrs. Maher, God bless her for having you,” she said. “I’m sure it wasn’t easy.”
The lines coming with comedic timing… almost as if scripted and rehearsed.
“I’m a mom with three kids, it isn’t easy,” Porter added. “But the point is, she and your father, and she made her choice.”
“Again, I’m not arguing what your pretending I’m arguing for, all of you on this panel, and you *ssholes who cheered that,” Maher replied, taking another shot at the crowd.
All in good humor, of course.
Earlier in the segment, Porter noted the age of the Hyde Amendment, as if not forcing tax payers to pay for abortions has an expiration date.
The Democratic lawmaker also spouted the expected party line in characterizing the killing of unborn babies as “reproductive health care.”
“The Hyde Amendment was a law passed in 1976 when I was 2 years old that hasn’t been changed since, that prohibits federal funds to be used to provide women with reproductive health care such as abortions,” Porter said.
She was critical of Biden’s decision, saying the front-runner in the 2020 Democratic primary was “trying to make a political decision here and failing still to recognize that this is a personal decision.”
Apparently not so personal that total strangers can’t pay for the decision, though.
