Veteran political consultant Roger Stone on Sunday posted to Instagram a photo of former CIA Director John Brennan with a  message that said, “This psycho must be charged, tried, convicted…and hung for treason.”

The post was deleted within an hour, removed by Instagram, saying it “violated our Community Guidelines.”

The post, along with multiple other social media posts made by Stone over the weekend, may have also been in violation of a gag order Stone is under, in connection with the case in which he was charged by Special Counsel Robert Mueller with lying to Congress, obstructing justice, and witness tampering. Stone’s trial is scheduled for November 5.

In February, Judge Amy Berman Jackson issued a gag order that prevents attorneys for Mueller and for Stone from “making statements to the media or in public settings that pose a substantial likelihood of material prejudice to this case.” The order is less restrictive on Stone, but the judge said at the time she might be forced to tighten restrictions on the longtime Trump confidant.

The deep state is making an example of Stone

In a memorable, made-for-CNN moment in January, Stone was arrested in a jack-booted predawn FBI raid at his Florida home. CNN had been tipped off about the coming raid and was reportedly on-site an hour before anyone else.

Video footage showed 29 armed FBI agents in full tactical gear at Stone’s home before 5 a.m., banging on the door until the 66-year-old answered, hands above his head. He was hauled in and charged, CNN got some great footage, and the FBI subsequently took a great deal of heat for the very questionable, heavy-handed, politically motivated manner in which the compliant senior citizen was treated.

After charges were filed, Stone pleaded not guilty and posted $250,000 bond.

Stone previously aggravated Judge Jackson via an Instagram post in February when he posted an image of the judge next to cross hairs. He apologized, denying that it “was meant to somehow threaten the Judge or disrespect [the] court.”

According to Newsweek, search warrants that were served earlier this year on Stone alleged he was in touch with a hacker group known as Guccifer 2.0 that had ties to Russian hacking of the Democratic National Committee. Stone is also accused of conferring with Wikileaks, the organization that disseminated emails stolen from the DNC in the lead-up to the 2016 presidential election.

Many Republicans, to include President Trump, have accused Brennan and former FBI Director James Comey of underhandedness and criminal political gamesmanship in the “witchhunt” for Trump wrongdoing. Stone is possibly a victim of that abuse of power and he has the support of many conservatives as he fights the charges that have been leveled against him.

Brennan is facing increasing pressure as the Department of Justice is turning its attention to investigating the origins of the Russia hoax.

Trump and other leading Republicans have used the terms “treason” and “collusion” in their protests about the false charges and wasteful political head-hunting that the Russian investigation amounted to.

Former Rep. Trey Gowdy recently commented on Fox News that, “Whoever is investigating this, tell them to look for emails between Brennan and Comey in December of 2016.” Gowdy’s inside knowledge of the classified materials surrounding the Russia investigation make his tip particularly interesting for many of us and foreboding for Brennan and other Obama-era deep-state officials.
