A shocking tweet posted by the singer known as Cher suggests she thinks it’s OK to wish sexual assault on another human being. Well, so long as that other human being is President Donald Trump, that is.
“Been giving impeachment much thought throughout the day & I would [love] 2 see Trump impeached, brought 2 trial, [locked] up in [chains], & boy toy of Big Bubba,” she wrote in a since-deleted tweet.

It’s unclear why Cher composes her tweets if as she’s a 5-year-old child.
What she meant by “boy toy of Big Bubba” was that she hoped the president would be raped in prison. While it remains unclear when exactly the tweet was posted, it drew attention early Thursday morning when English journalist and commentator Piers Morgan replied to it.
“Cher says she wants President Trump to be raped in prison as ‘Toy boy of Big Bubba,'” he tweeted at 1:42 am EST. “Disgusting, and if she’d said it about Obama she would never work again.”

Disgusting, and if she’d said it about Obama she would never work again. https://t.co/m7qAwAi9SZ— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) May 30, 2019
Not surprising at all Piers. Such is the way of the world nowadays. #WalkAway

Whatever you think about Trump when people say stuff like this it says more about them than it does about him.

Spoken like someone who’s never been to visit a prison. I love her acting and she was one of my favorites but she has really lost it. This is never okay, no matter your politics.

Why is this not a threat? Why is she allowed to post this kind of hate? James Woods is suspended from Twitter but these celebrities continue to make threats but not suspended? Sickening!

Morgan had a point about Obama. Perhaps because of his race or maybe because of his politics, former President Barack Obama was essentially insulated from insulting remarks.
In fact, Obama was insulated from any form of criticism. When then-The Daily Caller reporter Neil Munro tried to question him during an event in 2012, for instance, the entire media turned on him.
Regarding Cher’s joke about Trump, though he and Obama are veritable arch-nemeses, the evidence suggests even the former president wouldn’t have tolerated this quip. Why? Because he had a strict policy against making jokes about the epidemic of prison rape.
“We should not be tolerating rape in prison, and we shouldn’t be making jokes about it in our popular culture. That is no joke. These things are unacceptable,” he said during a criminal justice reform-related event in 2015. On this one issue, he certainly wasn’t wrong.
Dovetailing back to the president, about two hours after Morgan posted his criticism of Cher’s tweet, she returned to Twitter to issue a non-apology apology.
“This is not [an] apology,” she wrote. “It’s a Cher ‘wtf moment’. Don’t usually delete my twts, but sometimes I need 2 check myself. “What I thought of as [a] stupid joke ‘on paper’, went 2 far.”
“Think Trump belongs in jail, but Big Bubba joke was wrong. If I tweet, I have twt, I have a responsiblity. There’s a line not 2 cross.”

This is Not Apology,It’s a Cher ‘wtf Moment’.Dont Usually Delete My Twts,But Sometimes I Need 2 Check Myself.What I Thought Of As Stupid Joke”On Paper”,Went 2 Far.Think trump Belongs In Jail,but Big Bubba Joke Was Wrong.If I Twt,I Have a Responsibility.
THERES IS A LINE NOT 2 ❌— Cher (@cher) May 30, 2019
While it’s true that she admitted that wishing rape on the president “was wrong,” she did explicitly say that her tweet isn’t an apology. This suggests she stands by her original sentiment and does therefore feel that it’s OK to wish sexual assault on people whom she dislikes.
No matter, the response she received was arguably even more critical than the first time around.
Look:
Why is your mind so craven that you would wish anyone to be sexually assaulted. “This is not an apology”, why not? Because you lack decency?

What happened, run out of twelve year olds to chase? No one would ever accuse you of being sincere, respectful, all-knowing or polite. An apology from you would be as fake as everything else about your life. Americans don’t want to hear from you at all so please…..shut it!
— Ingrid (@IngridLINY) May 30, 2019
So you’re not apologising for legitimising sexual assault?
That’s disgusting and offensive to victims of sexual violence.

@cher Your a very sick woman Cher. And a shinning example of the mental illness infecting liberals. The disgusting group that fights for the right to murder newborns is capable of …well …just about anything. I dont hope you are raped tho..I hope you are treated.
— Reddwolf (@Jewelsattrees) May 30, 2019
why do you need to be so disrespectful? if you disagree with @POTUS and/or don’t like him, you don’t have to be so disgusting. #growup #youknowbetter
— DeeHaw (@dhawley12) May 30, 2019
That tweet was vile and disgusting. You said what you said, now you’re trying to spin it as a joke because people called you out on it. You can’t hide your true ugliness inside. Sick.
— Maggie (@MSherrard10) May 30, 2019
The latter Twitter user may have had a valid point. Given all the hateful and vile things Cher has tweeted ever since Trump entered the White House, it does seem like her remark wasn’t a joke but rather a reflection of the “ugliness” that resides within her heart.
