One might think Democrats would shy away from drawing attention to Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, given the scarcity of public appearances by the jurist since she underwent surgery to treat lung cancer.
(For the record, Ginsburg will reportedly visit Buffalo this summer and is scheduled to speak to students at the University at Buffalo School of Law on August 26.)
The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee posted an online poll asking social media users if they want more Supreme Court justices like Ginsburg, the most liberal jurist on the high court, or Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
But the results quickly backfired on them, as Ginsburg supporters started off strong but paled over the long run, as conservatives swarmed the poll.
“Do you want more Supreme Court justices like Ruth Bader Ginsburg or do you want more justices like Brett Kavanaugh?” read the DSCC poll tweeted.

Ginsburg, 86, was appointed by former President Bill Clinton, and is the oldest justice on the high court, while Trump appointee Kavanaugh is the second youngest, behind the other Trump appointee, 51-year-old Neil Gorsuch.
And while she has not been seen much since December, the liberal media is eager to push online conspiracy theories that Ginsburg died months ago and that Democrats are covering it up to prevent President Trump from filling her seat.
would like my justices to be alive.

“Fox & Friends” saw plenty of criticism when the network accidentally aired a graphic saying Ginsburg had died as she was recovering from surgery to treat early-stage lung cancer.
The show’s hosts apologized, pointing to a control room error.

“We need to apologize … A technical error in the control room triggered a graphic of RBG with a date on it,” co-host Steve Doocy would later say. “We don’t want to make it seem anything other than that was a mistake. That was an accident.”
As for the poll, the tweet below shows Ginsburg holding her own with 16,000 votes, but as the vote count increased, so too did Kavanaugh’s lead.

With conservatives getting behind their guy and he inched ahead, things began to sour for Democrats.

As of this writing, with nearly 138,000 votes in, Kavanaugh holds a commanding lead, which may indicate that it will be a while before we see the DSCC run another poll.

There are two days left to vote, giving Democrats plenty of time to rally the troops, so it’s not over ’til it’s over.
