CNN commentator stuns Cuomo, says he’d even back a candidate who ‘shot his dog’ if they could beat Trump

If you believe Democrats pulled out all the stops in 2016 to defeat candidate Donald Trump, to include weaponizing the intelligence apparatus of the federal government, their obsession with preventing now-President Trump from being reelected may be even greater.

Great enough to willingly sacrifice a beloved family pet.

At least, it is for CNN political commentator Paul Begala, who is so driven to see the president go down in defeat he would vote for a candidate able to best Trump, even if the person shot his dog.

Participating in a discussion Monday about former Vice President Joe Biden going “mana a mano” against Trump, Begala claimed he was a “typical” Democrat.

“I am a lifelong Democrat, and I have no candidate yet in this field,” he said. “First time in my life, I’ve not had a candidate that I’ve preferred in the primaries. I’m going to watch and see how they develop.”

“This is what I’m looking for: I’m a JFK Democrat,” Begala said. “I will pay any price, bear any burden, support any friend, oppose any foe, to ensure the defeat of Donald J. Trump. You could be for Medicare for all, or not.”

“You can shoot my dog, and if I think you can beat Trump I’m going to be for you,” he added.

Now that’s putting the derangement in Trump Derangement Syndrome.

Even CNN anchor Chris Cuomo, a certified Trump-hater, was struck by the unhinged remark.

“Well that’s, uh, very mainstream of you,” Cuomo told Begala, raising his eyebrows for effect.

(Oh, and by the way, John F. Kennedy would not be accepted in today’s radical left Democratic Party. Not by a long shot.)

Begala’s remark belies the very crux of what the so-called “Resistance” is allegedly all about — falling back on principle in opposing Trump.

Turns out, they could care less about how “principled” a president may or may not be, they just care that he or she is a Democrat.

Then again, when you think about it, we learned that much back during the Clinton-Lewinsky sex scandal.

CNN’s favorite Republican, Trump-hating Ana Navarro, would weigh in to say she could get behind Joe Biden.

“I think people like me, disenfranchised Republicans, people who do not want to vote for Trump, in my case, who will not vote for Trump, want to have somebody that they can vote for enthusiastically and without feeling like they are betraying our ideology, our principles and our convictions,” she said. “Joe Biden for me is such a person.”
