Two days after then-FBI Director James Comey held a press conference in the summer of 2016 exonerating former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton of a litany of indisputable crimes, he testified to Congress that he was no longer a registered Republican.
“I have been a registered Republican for most of my adult life, not registered any longer,” he said on July 7, 2016, while testifying to Congress about the bureau’s investigation into Clinton’s illicit use of a private email server to transmit classified intelligence, according to Politico.
Almost three years have passed since that eventful day, and what’s clear now beyond a shadow of a doubt is that the since-disgraced former FBI director had meant every word he’d said.
According to newly released Federal Election Commission filings, Comey and his wife have this year donated $5,400 total to Democrat presidential candidate Sen. Amy Klobuchar.
Comey donated $2,700 on Feb. 19:
His wife, Patrice Failor, donated $1,000 on Feb. 10:
And she donated another $1,700 on Feb. 11:
While Klobuchar isn’t as radical as her peers, she’s certainly radical enough to scare off even the most moderate of centrist voters. Two months ago she voted against a Senate measure to impose prison sentences on doctors who fail to try and save infants born during failed abortions.
According to the Washington Examiner, the 2020 contender boasts a 100 percent rating with the pro-abortion groups Planned Parenthood and NARAL, a 100 percent rating with the far-left Communications Workers for America union, a 95 percent rating with the mostly left-wing American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations and an “F” rating with the National Rifle Association.
She’s likewise voted in favor of higher taxes and supported efforts to ban “assault weapons.”
She also reportedly supports a gradual transition to socialized healthcare.
“Klobuchar has broken with many of her rivals by saying she didn’t immediately support a fully socialized health insurance system, branded by Democrats as ‘Medicare for all.’ She said it was something to work toward ‘in the future’ but just wants ‘action now,'” the Examiner notes.
“So in the meantime, she favors creating a government-run plan, or “public option,” that got dropped by Democrats during the Obamacare fight as too radical because its purpose was to destroy private insurance. Alternatively, she called for expanding Medicare and Medicaid, two programs that in their current form are crushing budgets at the federal and state levels.”
If these are the sorts of far-left policies that Comey now supports, it’s unclear what type of so-called Republicanism he’d be practicing prior to his conversion in 2016.
What’s known is that he is and has been one of the loudest critics of President Donald Trump, a man who many argue has been one of the most stalwart conservative presidents in American history.
“So much of what he’s doing is conservative — trying to rein in regulations. … He’s trying to secure American sovereignty, which includes, like any country that seeks to survive, securing our borders for crying out loud,” renowned conservative commentator Mark Levin noted in December of 2017.
Listen:
“He’s trying to deal with North Korea, which hasn’t been dealt with in any significant and serious way by past presidents, all of whom have appeased the various family members running that country. He’s trying to address Obama’s complete historic sellout to the Iranian regime. He’s trying to address that through the Obama deal by triggering the appropriate sections of that deal.”
He added, “If you’re a conservative, you must admit that Donald Trump has been more conservative than you anticipated. … I’m not talking about self-aggrandizing, pseudo-conservatives who worked for Bush or self-aggrandizing, pseudo-conservatives who were a part of the Never Trump movement. I’m not talking about them. They’ve got their own agendas and their own psychological issues.”
He’d presumably been referring to “self-aggrandizing, pseudo-conservatives” such as Comey.
What’s unclear is what specifically pushed the disgraced former FBI director into once and for all abandoning the Republican Party. Was it his hatred for Trump? Or was it the influence of his wife and daughters, who reportedly voted for then-Democrat presidential nominee Clinton in 2016?
And what specifically inspired him to donate to Klobuchar? Was it her far-left policy prescriptions, or was it their longtime friendship? The two reportedly attended the University of Chicago Law School and even shared some of the same classes.
What’s obvious is that he’s no longer a Republican, either officially or in heart:
But could you imagine a president who used this website to make dad jokes rather than to hurl insults? Happy #AprilFools. #VoteDem2020

He’s now a Democrat, yet stunningly enough, he keeps trying to portray himself as a centrist who wants “someone in the middle” to run the country. But if that were the case, he’d support an independent candidate like Howard Schultz, not a raging leftist like Klobuchar.
I’m in. We need someone in the middle. #2020 pic.twitter.com/IGt69bEQz1

That would be funny if you were actually in the middle but your a democrat hack who was paid off in some way by Clinton s

The Democrats have never been further left.
The fact that Nevertrumpicrats like @Comey are openly rooting for them proves they were never Conservatives or even in the middle. They are creatures of the left.

You think a Democrat would be in the middle? #Vote3rdParty2020
— Bo Rich (@borich2) April 2, 2019
So you admit you’re a Democrat?
— SaveOurRepublic (@DefeatMediaBias) April 2, 2019
So you’re a Democrat. That’s how Hillary got off.

You’re not in the middle, you are, and always have been, a Democrat. You just claimed to be Republican to get a job…
