Showtime is taking on Fox News and Roger Ailes, the late media mogul who helped grow the network as its CEO and Chairman, this June with the Russell Crowe-starring miniseries “The Loudest Voice in the Room.”
The first teaser trailer for the show was released on Tuesday and it shows off the sort of on-the-nose, agenda-driven writing that is sadly commonplace in modern Hollywood, especially when it comes to stories dealing with politics.
“We’re going to give a vision of the world the way they want it to be,” Ailes (played by an almost unrecognizable Russell Crowe) says at one point in the trailer, clearly a hit on right-of-center viewers who use Fox News as a resource.
The trailer also teases looks at the alleged sexual misconduct of Ailes, which ultimately led to him parting ways with Fox News in 2016. The show has made up its mind about the accusations because Ailes is seen clearly harassing women in the trailer.
There’s also talk of “war” and winning by Crowe’s Ailes.
While the production value of the series is no doubt high and Crowe’s physical transformation is commendable, “The Loudest Voice in the Room” is just another hit-piece out of Hollywood meant to confirm the radical beliefs of the industry’s most outspoken liberals.
People who watch Fox News are out of touch with reality.
The right is an angry, volatile group that only cares about winning.
Women have no place on the right and are in danger when they are around conservatives.
These are the absurd and out-of-touch beliefs works like “The Loudest Voice in the Room” are working so hard to push.

“In today’s politically charged media landscape, no figure looms larger,” wrote Showtime in a tweet premiering the trailer.
You won’t see Showtime backing a film exposing anyone over at CNN or MSNBC. The only safe target in Hollywood these days is a conservative.
Showtime has a particular taste for left-wing content. The network also airs the Stephen Colbert-produced “Our Cartooon President,” a ridiculous animated series about Trump’s White House. That series returns for a second season next month.
While it’s popular to go after Republicans, Trump, Fox News, etc. in Hollywood, the moviegoing public isn’t all that interested.
Take last year’s “Vice” as an example. That movie also featured a wild physical transformation by a lead actor into a prominent conservative figure. “The Dark Knight” star Christian Bale gained a massive amount of weight and turned himself into former Vice President Dick Cheney for the Adam McKay-directed picture, but the movie itself bombed at the box office.
The flick couldn’t even crack $50 million at the domestic box office despite a massive star in the lead role, multiple Academy Award nominations, and a pretty significant advertising campaign.
These agenda-driven stories that feel like they are written by unimaginative Twitter trolls are simply not what people want right now.
“The Loudest Voice in the Room” premieres on Showtime on June 30. The seven-part miniseries is based on the book by Gabriel Sherman. The show also features actors like Sienna Miller (“American Sniper”) as Ailes’ wife, Elizabeth, and Seth MacFarlane (“Family Guy,” “The Orville”) as Brian Lewis, the former head of public relations for Fox News.
