Renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma plays Bach on US-Mexico border. Musicians played while the Titanic sank, too.

On Saturday renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma traveled to one of the most dangerous sections of the southern U.S. border to play a classical rendition in promotion of cultural unity.

He first played the opening notes of Johann Sebastian Bach’s “Suite No. 1 for Unaccompanied Cello” at a park in Laredo, Texas situated across from the Juarez-Lincoln International Bridge, which connects Laredo to the Mexican city of Nuevo Laredo. He later played in Nuevo Laredo as well

“It was part of his Bach Project, which uses the composer’s 300-year-old music to explore connections between cultures. The project has taken him all over the world,” NPR reported.

See some of the performance below:

“As you all know, as you did and do and will do, in culture, we build bridges, not walls,” the clearly left-wing musician proudly declared to NPR. “I’ve lived my life at the borders. Between cultures. Between disciplines. Between musics. Between generations.”

The locals in Laredo whom NPR spoke with seemed to agree with his message.

“It speaks of him. What a wonderful human being to take his time and come to our tiny little town to share the importance of culture. On the border. It’s amazing. It’s a privilege to be a part of this,” local resident Betty DeLeon reportedly said.

“[A]lthough people may perceive us as being so different, we’re not. Here the border is extremely unique in that it’s one organism,” Laredo Mayor Pete Saenz added. “I’ve always said we’re interdependent, interconnected. We survived because the border side survives, especially here on the border area.”

During neither performance did the world-renowned musician warn his listeners of the dangers they faced. Three months ago 20 bodies were found near Nuevo Laredo.

“[A]uthorities [have] discovered 20 bodies near the frontier, close to the city of Nuevo Laredo in the state of Tamaulipas,” Newsweek reported at the time. “Seventeen of the bodies had been burned, the official explained, and were discovered alongside five burned-out vehicles.”

The outlet added that “Tamaulipas is one of the most violent states in a country that has been beset by drug-related violence. Its location on the U.S. border makes the state useful for the lucrative drug trade and human trafficking. The 20 bodies found Wednesday are among hundreds discovered in recent years, many in mass unmarked graves.”

A month prior two locals were killed and four injured during a shooting between suspected cartel members and Mexican military officers. And roughly half a year earlier people suddenly began “disappearing” from Nuevo Laredo, as reported last spring by San Antonio station WOAI.

“Jessica Molina has not seen or heard from her husband since March, when Mexican marines broke through their door in Nuevo Laredo and took him and a friend away,” the outlet reported.

“Molina, a U.S. citizen, said Wednesday that her 41-year-old Mexican husband, Jose Daniel Trejo Garcia, is a mechanic with an established business in Laredo, Texas, where they live. They were only in Nuevo Laredo because she had recently had surgery in Monterrey and was returning to have stitches removed.”

As of March 2019, Garcia still remains missing, as do the countless others who’ve simply vanished without a trace in the Mexican town.

Because of Yo-Yo Ma’s performance in Laredo and Nuevo Laredo, some left-wing Americans appear to be even more confident now than ever before that the border is perfectly safe.

Case in point:

Fox News’ only interest appears to be reporting the actual facts, which are that the entire southern U.S. border is dangerous, despite what Democrats and their media allies claim.

Back in January CNN chief White House correspondent Jim Acosta published a “report” from the midpoint between Laredo and McAllen claiming the border was perfectly safe.

“We’re not seeing any kind of imminent danger. There are no migrants trying to rush toward this fence here in the McAllen, Texas, area,” he dismissively said in a video published to Twitter.

“No sign of the national emergency that [President Donald Trump] has been talking about. As a matter of fact, it’s pretty tranquil down here.”

The video was recorded during the government shutdown.

Watch:

Exactly two days after Acosta published this “report,” the aforementioned 20 bodies near Nuevo Laredo were discovered. At the time social media users pummeled the CNN correspondent with criticism for being so unwilling to acknowledge the truth about the situation along the border.

Look:

Judging by the stunt Yo-Yo Ma pulled Saturday, it appears he could use similar reminders of the truth.
