Wikileaks publisher Julian Assange was carried out of the Ecuadorian Embassy in London this morning by police and is expected to be extradited to the United States to face one count of conspiracy to steal classified documents.
Meghan McCain could not be happier, exploding at a co-host who was defending Assange on free speech grounds on Thursday, saying she hopes he “rots in hell.”

McCain told her co-hosts she thinks Assange “was a cyber terrorist from day one” and when asked what she thinks will happen to Assange, said: “I hope he rots in hell!”
Assange pleaded guilty Thursday morning in court in London to one court of skipping bail, and is to appear again in court for an extradition hearing, to determine whether he will be handed over to the United States to face one charge of conspiracy to steal classified documents. In the indictment, federal officials claim that Assange, the publisher of WikiLeaks, did not just post documents online, but also helped the former Bradley Manning (now known as ‘Chelsea’ following a sex-change operation), break into government computers.
“On or about March 8, 2010,” the indictment reads, “Assange agreed to assist Manning in cracking a password stored on United States Department of Defense computers connected to the Secret Internet Protocol Network, a United States government network used for classified documents and communications, as designated according to Executive Order No. 13526 or its predecessor orders.”
The news of Assange’s arrest sent shock waves reverberating through the online news world on Thursday, with reporter-activist Glenn Greenwald saying major media journalists hate Assange because they’re jealous that he’s broken news that’s had a “massive global impact” and because they’re in league with the government.
Many corporate US journalists hate Assange for 2 key reasons: 1) professional jealousy: he published stories of massive global impact they've never come close to; 2) he is adversarial to the US Govt & its security state agencies while they are supporters & servants of them: https://t.co/dhhIRyVFkr

The top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, Mark Warner of Virginia, said Thursday that Assange has been directly involved in “Russian efforts to undermine the west.”

But Julian Assange has repeatedly insisted that he has no relationships with Russia and that the documents he published did not come from a Russian, from anyone close to the Russian government, or from any state actor.
Assange and Wikileaks most famously published the DNC emails just before the Democratic National Convention in July of 2016 that proved that contrary to public statements that it was neutral during the primary, the top leadership of the DNC had for many months been working to help Hillary Clinton and hurt insurgent candidate Bernie Sanders and had even plotted to use Bernie Sanders’ religion (or lack of it) to hurt him with Democratic voters. The news was so explosive that Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, the head of the DNC, was booed at the DNC Convention and was ultimately forced to step down, along with two other top staffers.
Democrats have repeatedly insisted that the emails were obtained by a hack of the DNC’s server, and the outside company they hired to examine the server said the server had been been breached by people connected with Russian intelligence. But several former intelligence staffers who separately examined the information said that given the download speeds, the information couldn’t have been obtained through a hack from abroad, but must have been downloaded by someone inside DNC headquarters.
