Cory Booker called king of Dem ‘cowards’ when candidates ignore rallying cry of cop-killer at D.C. event

Eight 2020 Democrat presidential candidates headlined a conference in Washington, D.C. that kicked off with the fierce rallying cry of fugitive Marxist cop-killer Assata Shakur.

The We the People conference on Monday started off with Jamal Watkins, vice president of civic engagement at the NAACP, igniting the audience and urging them to chant in unison:

It is our duty to fight for our freedom.
It is our duty to win.
We must love each other and support each other.
We have nothing to lose but our chains.

Watkins told the people that it was the cry of a “leader,” Assata Shakur. Leftists are increasingly embracing this cry which the militant Shakur derived from the words of Karl Marx and Fredrick Engels’ in their Communist Manifesto: “The proletarians have nothing to lose but their chains. They have a world to win. Proletarians of All Countries, Unite!”

Some might be shocked that the left so openly idolizes Shakur, an escaped, convicted cop-killer who lives in Cuba after being given asylum there. Shakur, formerly known as Joanne Chesimard, is a former Black Panther and Black Liberation Army member. In 2013 the FBI named Shakur to the Most Wanted Terrorist list, the first woman to ever make the list.

Between 1971 and 1973, she was charged with several crimes and was the target of a multi-state manhunt. Shakur was convicted of the first-degree murder of State Trooper Werner Foerster during a shootout on the New Jersey Turnpike in 1973 in which several people were shot, including another Trooper who also died. In 1979 she escaped from prison and then surfaced in Cuba.

The candidates who spoke at the conference were Cory Booker, Julián Castro, Beto O’Rourke, Amy Klobuchar, Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Jay Inslee,  and Kirsten Gillibrand. None of them has at this point denounced Shakur or rejected her rallying cry, which is often used at Black Lives Matter marches and other events.

David Webb called Cory Booker the “top of the list of cowards” at the conference who either agreed with embracing Shakur or were afraid to say otherwise.

Fox News commentator David Webb pointedly called the Democrats there “cowards.” In particular, he singled out Cory Booker. “Cory Booker stood on that stage,” said Webb. “Among the cowards in the Democrat party who stand there because they either agree or they’re afraid, he is the top of the cowards list for that event.”

For many years, Democrats have expressed support for the convicted murderer. One example … in 1998, Rep. Maxine Waters wrote in 1998 to then-Cuban President Fidel Castro, apologizing for voting for a resolution that called for Cuba to stop harboring Shakur.

She wrote: “I, and some of the Members of the Congressional Black Caucus, mistakenly voted for House Concurrent Resolution 254 which called on the Government of Cuba to extradite to the United States Joanne Chesimard and all other individuals who have fled the United States from political persecution and received political asylum in Cuba. Joanne Chesimard was the birth name of a political activist known to most Members of the Congressional Black Caucus as Assata Shakur. For the record, I am opposed to the resolution. I unequivocally stated that a mistake was made and I would have voted against the legislation.”

The Sierra Club, MoveOn.org, Planned Parenthood Action Fund, SEIU, and Communications Workers of America were among groups attending the conference.
