President Donald Trump dumped on The New York Times and The Washington Post on Friday for winning a Pulitzer Prize for their reporting on the delusion of collusion with Russian, saying the newspapers should be stripped of the award considering there was no collusion.
The slight comes after special counsel Robert Mueller wrapped up a two-year long investigation that cost taxpayers more than $30 million without a single indictment related to collusion.
“So funny that The New York Times & The Washington Post got a Pulitzer Prize for their coverage (100% NEGATIVE and FAKE!) of Collusion with Russia – And there was No Collusion!” Trump tweeted. “So, they were either duped or corrupt? In any event, their prizes should be taken away by the Committee!”

The national media was obsessed with the story for two years, force-feeding it down America’s throats in heaping spoonfuls on a nightly basis, with some going so far as to accuse the president of the United States of treason.
Attorney General William Barr said in his letter to Congress summarizing Mueller’s final report the Trump campaign did not conspire or coordinate with Russia “despite multiple offers from Russian-affiliated individuals to assist the Trump campaign,” USA Today reported — which suggests that the opportunity presented itself and the campaign rejected it. Not that this little tidbit is getting much attention.
As for Trump’s call for the Pulitzer Board to revoke the prizes awarded to The Times and The Post, how can you rebuke what is essentially a self-governing elitist industry for getting it wrong when they counter by saying they weren’t wrong because they say they weren’t wrong?
The Times responded to Trump’s tweet by pretty much saying just that.

The Post’s White House reporter Josh Dawsey also pushed back in a tweet of his own.

The Pulitzer Board granted the awards “for deeply sourced, relentlessly reported coverage in the public interest that dramatically furthered the nation’s understanding of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and its connections to the Trump campaign, the President-elect’s transition team and his eventual administration.”
So did The Times and The Post report all along that there was no collusion? That is was all a hoax?
Not by a long shot.
The president’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr. called attention to the Pulitzer awards last week in responding to a tweet from The Federalist’s Mollie Hemingway, tweeting there should be “a recall.”

It’s clear that Trump Jr. is talking about reporting, but his critics jumped on the fact that Pulitzers are awarded for works of fiction to ridicule him.
As for any chances of the Pulitzer Board rescinding the awards, keep in mind that this is the entity that awarded Barack Obama for… well, being Barack Obama.
