It was reported weeks ago that Socialist Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has ignored for six years the back taxes she owes from 2012. In spite of promising the taxes would be paid pronto, lawyers are now involved.
According to the New York Post, AOC owes $1877.56 in unpaid corporate taxes–not an unmanageable amount by any means, so why is it that it still hasn’t been paid?
The business that flopped was called Brook Avenue Press, an effort to publish books about inner-city kids. There is no evidence that the enterprise ever published a book.
The business eventually was dissolved by the state in October 2016, which happens to organizations that don’t keep up with their civic tax obligations. The state of New York slapped the company with a warrant in July 2017, two months after AOC announced her candidacy for Congress in a district that includes Queens and the Bronx.
Do as I say, not as I do? The leftist freshman congresswoman is known for her demands for raising taxes to exorbitant levels for the wealthy, up to 70%.
Twitter today is alive with complaints and questions about her failure to pay the taxes overdue for several years … and the unsurprising fact that her business crashed and burned. Yet she preaches about how major corporations should be run.
Of course, socialism is known for its failures on immense scales. Silencing and abusing critics are integral to the implementation of progressive socialism.
Worth noting is that Ocasio-Cortez’s recent poll numbers in the liberal stronghold New York are tumbling. According to Gallup, 31% of New Yorkers admire her, 41% disapprove. Oddly, 28% had no opinion of her or had not heard of her … that would have to be a biting commentary on how many people out there are clueless and uninformed. It may come as a surprise–kind of crazy?–that President Trump is MORE popular in New York than AOC now.

- pushing ridiculous Green New Deal plans that have no chance of working or ever being implemented
- defending anti-Semites
- driving new Amazon jobs out of the city
- being funded and run by the radical Justice Democrats PAC
- and now being a scofflaw tax evader.
The Post contacted AOC’s office two weeks ago and a spokesman assured the reporter that the delinquent taxes would be paid right away.
But on Thursday, that was apparently still not taken care of. Her aide Corbin Trent indicated AOC’s lawyers were looking into the matter. “I’m her congressional staffer, not her personal accountant,” he said.

I have a question….why is it that certain people aren’t made to pay the taxes they owe the IRS? AOC owes takes from a failed 2012 business venture, and Al Sharpton, who owes thousands of dollars. If I don’t pay my taxes I must suffer the consequences!
