John R. Smith: Socialist’s Green New Deal would bankrupt America

Never underestimate the stupidity of some voters, to wit, the ones who elected a dangerous potpourri of far-left nitwits and deceptive power-mongers to the highest legislative body in our land, the U.S. Congress. Not all Congress members fit this description, but too many of the new Democrats do.

These are dangerous people. They are menacing because they propose revolutionary agendas and because their radicalism has infected the platforms of nearly all of the declared Democrat candidates for the 2020 presidential election.

Here’s what’s going on: the worldwide global-warming crowd is beginning to become unraveled. Their real problem isn’t so much the climate-change deniers or even skepticism that our climate is changing. The problem is that the environmental activists don’t have the answers for the problem they have described. Millions of people are beginning to doubt the validity of the policies proposed by the activists. The Paris Agreement accords have shown that governments worldwide are not taking effective action on climate change because they know the policies will not work. James Hansen, a climate activist, states the accords are “a fraud, really, a fake…There is no action, just promises”.

In truth, enviro activists don’t have the answers because they are wolves in sheep’s clothing, they operate under the cloak of the “green” movement, but are nothing more than plain old socialists. “Climate change” is a stalking horse, a false pretext, for worldwide advocates of socialism. These activist empty-heads don’t want economic growth. They want environmental purity.  If you want to move a rock, build a road, erect a home, these activists demand that the government gets to make the decision. If the government OKs such activity, environmentalists use the court system to reverse the decision or to delay it, ad infinitum.

So, it’s all about enviro socialists trying to expand government so it gives the greens what they want. The extreme fringe doesn’t care whether they put you out of work or eliminate your chances to find a job. They don’t care if they destroy entire industries or decimate communities. They demolish to get what they want.

These idiots reject reality and they think government can do everything better.

One good example is their attempt to force government to use taxpayer money to buy big tracts of land in the large farming areas south of Lake Okeechobee in Florida. If they succeed, they will take the land out of production, devastate the local economy, deprive thousands of people from their jobs, make ghost towns out of the three municipalities at the south end of the lake, and remove the land from the tax base. If people suffer and lose their livelihoods, and food prices skyrocket, gee, that’s too bad.

Enter now Ms. Alexandria “What’s-Her-Face” and her blathering comrades, the most reckless politicians in America, with their “Green New Deal” plan. They want to replace or “retrofit every building in America” (including residences), they call for “100% renewable energy” and “zero greenhouse gases”, want to junk “every combustible-engine vehicle” in the U.S. and will to pay people who are “unwilling to work”. Among these socialists’ many insane delinquencies, hypocrisy is rampant (they use gas-guzzling car services such as Lyft and Uber, and fly on exhaust-spewing airplanes).

There’s a simple explanation for the creation of Green New Deal. It was engineered by socialists to advance their campaign to increase the size and role of government in our lives.

The economically ignorant leftists who proposed this debacle don’t understand that there’s a second stage that must be implemented. Like most political liberals, they ignore how to pay for what they want to do. They only babble on about their plan, lying when pressed about how much it will cost and the gargantuan tax hikes required. When we tote up the “New Green Economy” costs for a government guarantee of jobs, minimum incomes for all, a single-payer health care system, retirement security, medical and maternal leave, job training and re-training, free education for all, renewable power production and tree planting, we arrive at a grand total of —wait for it— between $45 and $80 trillion. The current federal budget is $4.1 trillion.

It seems Alexandria “What’s-Her-Face” will need to change her name to Alexandria “Pie-in-the-Sky”.
