High-powered Dem Andre Fladell: What’s hurting the country the most is dysfunctional and disgusting CNN

Palm Beach County Democrat and political powerbroker Andre Fladell is as angry at CNN’s fake news as Donald J. Trump.

And, it sounds a little different when it’s coming from one of the most powerful Democrats in the Sunshine State.

What’s hurting the country the most, in my opinion, is the dysfunctional and disgusting reporting of a cable channel called CNN,”  Fladell said during a meeting earlier this month of the United South County Democrats.

Once awarded the honorary title of “Prince of Palm Beach” by the county’s commissioners, Fladell is a legendary political operative recognized across Florida, in part for the way he united six warring Democrat clubs and establishments into a united faction: the South County Political Cooperative. His history is a fascinating one, to say the least.

He is, in short, a man of immeasurable influence and power among liberals, which makes his remarks about the news media — and especially CNN — that much more glaring. Listen to some of his speech below:

Fladell rightly noted that both MSNBC and Fox News at least admit their biases up front.

“Chris Mathews, Chris Hayes, Hannity, Tucker Carlson, Laura Ingraham, Al Sharpton — they don’t pretend to be news. They pretend to be commentators,” he said.

“That’s what the First Amendment’s about. … That’s what commentary properly should be. But when CNN pretends that Jake Tapper, Wolf Blitzer and John Berman are news programs and journalists, and they give you the same garbage as every other commentator, then I have a question that the country’s being misrepresented and the news of the world is being misrepresented.”

He then listed a bevy of examples to back up his argument, such as when CNN (and in fact the entire left-wing media) tried to score a gotcha’ moment on National Security Adviser John Bolton by revealing what he had written on his legal pad to the entire world.

“Recently, John Bolton made a speech,” Fladell explained. “They took a picture off his notepad, blew it up, turned it around and noted that it said ‘5,000 troops Columbia.’ And the news reported that. They reported the notes of the (national security adviser’s) notepad, not something he said.”

“And then they spent a day evaluating what that really meant. Do you know how dangerous it is for them to take notes off someone’s notepad related to troop movements?”

Listen to more of his examples below:

The most glaring example cited by Fladell was when CNN spent a day questioning the motives of special counsel Robert Mueller.

Recall when BuzzFeed ran a report in January that accused President Donald Trump of having ordered his then-attorney Michael Cohen to lie to Congress in 2017. Had this report been true, Democrats would have been able to impeach the president on obstruction of justice.

But soon after the report’s publication, Mueller’s office released a statement disputing it:

“Inside the Justice Department, the statement was viewed as a huge step, and one that would have been taken only if the special counsel’s office viewed the story as almost entirely incorrect,” The Washington Post reported at the time. “The special counsel’s office seemed to be disputing every aspect of the story that addressed comments or evidence given to its investigators.”

How did CNN react? First, “journalist” Chris Cuomo complained that “Mueller didn’t do the media any favors tonight.” And second, the networks other “journalists” debated whether Mueller really meant it.

“You know what CNN does? They debate, ‘Well, he didn’t say it wasn’t true. He just said it’s not accurate, and accurate doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. And actually, it really could have happened,'” an exasperated Fladell explained. “That’s not news. News is, tell me what happened and let me figure it out. Don’t tell me what you think it might be.”

He added that the so-called “experts” CNN uses to back its biased arguments are no better.

“These experts — and by the way, they don’t know what they’re talking about — can read everyone’s mind, know what everyone’s thinking, know why people are doing what they’re doing — people they’ve never met,” he said sarcastically.

“All I want someone to do is have a news show and give me the news and call it news, or have a commentary. And I resent specifically the polarization being created by a make-believe news, a misrepresentation of what news actually is. So I’m very disappointed about CNN about the way they conduct themselves.”

Ouch.

Nothing he said was wrong. CNN jumps through hoops to feign impartiality, even as its unrelenting anti-Trump and pro-Democrat bias drips off the lips of its so-called “journalists.”

But most conservatives already know this. Most Democrats presumably do not, however, which is why it’s so refreshing to see such a powerful Democrat figure highlight it. Maybe, just maybe Democrats across the country will heed Fladell’s message and think twice going forward about getting their “news” from CNN.
