Exasperated by the Democrat Party’s apparent newfound embrace of infanticide, conservative Sen. Ben Sasse of Nebraska has challenged his left-wing peers in the Senate to prove they’re against the murder of newborn babies by voting Monday in favor of his Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.
“[O]n Monday evening I’m going to be asking unanimous consent for senators to come to the floor and pass an abortion survivors protection act, an abortion survivors born-alive piece of legislation,” he said on the Senate floor Wednesday. ” I’m going to ask all 100 senators to come to the floor and be against infanticide. This shouldn’t be complicated.”
Listen:
Originally introduced in the Senate two years ago, the landmark piece of legislation has remained stalled despite it benefiting from a whopping 36 cosponsors.
Sasse reportedly reintroduced it earlier this month, saying at the time, “This legislation is an opportunity for Congress to find consensus built on common sense, compassion, science, and a simple fact: every baby deserves a fighting chance at life.”
His push to expedite its passage the through the upper chamber of Congress comes amid an outbreak of startling pro-infanticide rhetoric and actions by the increasingly radical left.
Last week New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, a Democrat who purports to be a Catholic, signed into law a piece of legislation that allows an abortion to be carried out even after 24 weeks of pregnancy.
This week Democrat state delegates in Virginia introduced an even more radical bill, HB2491, that would allow an abortion to be performed for any reason up til the moment a woman gives birth.
And as if that wasn’t bad enough, on Wednesday the state’s Democrat governor, Ralph Northam, appeared to endorse aborting babies after they’re born, which is known as infanticide.
“If a mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen: the infant would be delivered. the infant would be kept comfortable, the infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother,” he said in support of HB2491 during an interview with a local station.
Listen:
“In just a few years pro-abortion zealots went from ‘safe, legal, and rare’ to ‘keep the newborns comfortable while the doctor debates infanticide,'” Sasse angrily said in a statement after Northam’s remarks went viral. “I don’t care what party you’re from — if you can’t say that it’s wrong to leave babies to die after birth, get the hell out of public office.”
To make matters worse, Democrats en masse refuse to condemn the governor’s rhetoric. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has dismissed the remarks altogether, acting as if they were never said.
And according to Henry Hill, the Capitol Hill reporter for the Daily Caller News Foundation, every Democrat senator he’s spoken to has issued the same unbelievable excuse.
Every Democratic Senator I have spoken with has completely denied hearing anything about Gov. Northam’s late-term abortion comments…

It’s why Sasse is committed to forcing his Democrat colleagues in the Senate to fess up once and for all and admit whether they truly do oppose infanticide.
“Let’s be clear what we’re talking about. We’re talking about killing a baby that’s been born. We’re not talking about some euphemism, we’re not talking about a clump of cells,” he said Wednesday.
“We’re talking about a little baby girl whose been born and is on a table in a hospital or a medical facility and then a decision or a debate would be had about whether or not you could kill that little baby. We’re talking about the most vulnerable among us and we have a public official in America out there again and again defending a practice.”
“This is infanticide that we’re talking about. This should be so far beyond any political consideration. We’re talking about a little baby. A baby with dignity. An image bearer. We’re talking about a tiny life that has done nothing wrong to warrant being left to die cold and alone on a table.”
His bill is reportedly scheduled for a vote Monday. It’ll be interesting to see how Democrat senators vote, assuming they vote at all. (They have a history of walking out of live voting sessions.)
Or, will they be honest for a change and just admit upfront that they support the murder of newborn babies? Will they or won’t they — that, dear Watson, is the question.

Senator Sasse just asked the Senate to unanimously pass S. 130, a bill to stop infanticide. It is unconscionable for the Democrats to obstruct legislation that protects life.

Sen Ben Sasse is calling for expedited consideration in the US Senate of the Born Alive #Abortion Survivors Act. Will be interesting to see what the #Democrats have to say, since these bills in the states allowing abortion up to & after birth are all coming from #Dems! #Prolife

I will be eager to hear how this unfolds. Who on Earth can condone abortions in the 9th month? It isn’t human.

Good for him! Why are Republicans always so afraid to make Democrats take votes on things like illegal immigration and abortion? Why do we shy-away from issues we overwhelmingly own?
