Move over AOC, radical cohort Ilhan Omar pushes an even HIGHER job crushing, ambition sucking tax rate

When not engaged in a pitched battle with Republican Jews in Congress, newly elected Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., has her eyes set on the wealth of Americans she deems to be the “one percent,” as seen in a Yahoo News interview with women’s rights activist Zainab Salbi.

Omar was asked how Democrats plan to come up with the trillions of dollars needed to pay for a Green New Deal and Medicare For All, and she went even further than Rep. Alexander Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., the self-avowed socialist who has called for a 70 percent marginal tax rate for the “tippy-tops,” calling for up to a 90 percent tax rate.

“There are a few things that we can do,” Omar said. “One of them, is that we can increase the taxes that people are paying who are the extremely wealthy in our communities. So, 70 percent, 80 percent, we’ve had it as high as 90 percent. So, that’s a place we can start.”

“The one percent must pay their fair share,” she added.

Fair being up to 90 percent of what they earn in the eyes of the Somali refugee who was one of the first two Muslim women to be elected to Congress in November.

Omar also set her sights on the defense budget since 9/11, saying, “most of the money that we have in there is much more than with we spend on education, on healthcare.”

And to be clear that she wasn’t misunderstood, Omar took to Twitter afterwards to double down on the extreme tax rate she proposed — and on the fact that she’s an unhinged hard-left zealot, as she likened climate change to World War Two.

“In 1944 at the height of WWII, the top tax rate was 94% for those making over $2.6 million. In the face of the existential threat of climate change, shouldn’t we ask the wealthiest among us to contribute a little more?” she tweeted.

Omar is no stranger to controversy, having been in the news recently for mocking Vice President Mike Pence’s Christian faith.

She has also faced dogged claims during her campaign that she married her brother, in part to commit immigration fraud. Omar issued a statement in 2016 saying the allegations “are absurd and offensive,” according to The Associated Press.

The news agency reported that Omar “broadly denied the allegations” in a statement to them, saying she “declined to provide documents or answer specific questions when pressed.”

As for the “one percent,” The Daily Wire’s Ryan Saavedra tweeted: “In the majority of states, to be in the top 1% of earners one has to make $300-500K per year.”

Here’s a sampling of other responses from Twitter users, who weren’t too kind to Omar:
