Now that she has been released from custody in Thailand, a Belarusian escort who said she had proof President Trump’s campaign colluded with the Kremlin during the 2016 presidential election admits that she made up the claims.
Not that this is surprising, though the prostitute’s honesty gives her a decided edge over those motivated by a political agenda.
Anastasia Vashukevich was arrested in Thailand in 2018 for organizing sex training seminars and made the sensational claim that she had evidence proving that Russia worked with Trump’s campaign — and the self-styled “sex coach” does not regret the decision.
Instead, Vashukevich said the media attention she attracted saved her life.
“I think it saved my life, how can I regret it? If journalists had not come at that time and that story had not come to the newspapers, maybe I would die [be dead by] now,” she told CNN.
Vashukevich, who described her time in a Thai prison as “hell,” claimed to have photos and recordings of Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska, reportedly a client of hers, talking about interfering in the U.S. presidential election.
“I am ready to help with an investigation if they help us get out of here,” she said at the time, speaking of the U.S.
Deripaska, reportedly close to Russian President Vladimir Putin and an ex-business associate of Trump’s former campaign chairman Paul Manafort, denies having an affair with the escort.
After being deported from Thailand earlier this month, Vashukevich, also known as Nastya Rybka, was detained in Russia on prostitution charges.
She told CNN that before being let go, Russian security services told her not to talk about Deripaska anymore.
“They explained to me very clear[ly] what should I do, what should I say and what I shouldn’t say,” she said. “They said to me, ‘Don’t touch Oleg Deripaska anymore.’”
Vashukevich did apologize to Deripaska for bringing harm to his reputation during a court appearance in Moscow prior to her release, CNN reported.
For what it’s worth, the Daily Beast reported last week a leaked audio tape allegedly shows that “Deripaska and his associates planned the arrest” of Vashukevich after she was deported from Thailand.

Despite being expected to be sent back to her home country, she was detained in Moscow on suspicion of enticement into prostitution. Audio released by Russian opposition politician Aleksei Navalny allegedly shows Deripaska, with whom Vashukevich is believed to have had a relationship, and his associates discussing how to keep the model under lock and key. In the recording, one man says everyone in Vashukevich’s group needs to be “locked up” and suggested that she could be charged with illegal business activities.
