A British Hollywood actor abruptly jumped head-first into the political realm this weekend by seemingly criticizing New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady for his political views.
When asked during an interview with Variety magazine whom he supports going into the upcoming Super Bowl, actor Daniel Radcliffe appeared to suggest that he supports the Los Angeles Rams over the New England Patriots because Brady’s an avid Trump supporter.
“Rams! Cause, like, the whole world is rooting against the Patriots,” he initially replied without explaining what he meant, though it should be noted that he said this while giggling. “Sorry.”
When the interviewer asked whether Brady should retire, he replied, “No! But he should stop winning things. Take that MAGA hat out your locker.”
A big deal was made back in 2015 when it was discovered that Brady keeps a red “Make America Great Again” hat in the top shelf of his locker.
“I feel like that was the moment we’re all like, ‘Oh, come on, dude!’ We all wanna be, you know, ‘you’re awesome,’ and behind you, and don’t put that in there. So yeah, Rams,” Radcliffe added.
Listen:
It’s unclear whether he was being serious, given as he was chortling the whole time. He does however have a history of being a somewhat raging anti-Trumper.
Flashback to the summer of 2016, right after the United Kingdom voted in favor of Brexit and right around the time that a deranged man killed a member of Parliament.
Speaking about the events, Radcliffe drew a false connection between Trump, the U.K.’s “right-wing party” and the murder of the MP.
“It worries me that — we don’t really have a version of Trump, but our very far right wing party, they obviously would never have incited somebody to that violence,” he said.
“I’m not saying they did that because they didn’t. But equally, you spend that much time fearmongering about race and religion and that’s going to have an effect sometimes.”
Now fast-forward to September of 2016, when Radcliffe, who starred in the “Harry Potter” movie series, was asked what he thought about remarks once made on Twitter by J.K. Rowling, the author of the actual “Harry Potter” books,” about then-GOP presidential nominee Trump.
In a tweet she had posted a year earlier, she accused Trump of being a worse human being than Lord Voldemort, the primary antagonist of the “Harry Potter” series:
How horrible. Voldemort was nowhere near as bad. https://t.co/hFO0XmOpPH

“I sort of think Donald Trump might not be as ideologically pure as Voldemort,” Radcliffe said in September of 2016 to Sky News when asked by Rowling’s tweet. “My thinking on Trump is that he feels like more of an opportunist – I don’t know how much of this stuff he’s saying he actually really believes.”
“He hides behind the sort of thing of, ‘Oh I’m just an entertainer’ and all that but that comparison is certainly not without its merit.”
While this criticism might not be as searing as that of Rowling, who issues patently insane and always deceitful remarks about Trump almost daily, it’s still quite harsh.
It suggests that, despite his goofy demeanor, Radcliffe loathes the president as much as nearly every other actor and actress in Hollywood — the one and only James Woods not included.
It’s perhaps why so many of Trump’s fervent fans are not at all happy about the actor’s latest remarks.
Look:
It’s adorable he thinks he has any right to tell another man what to do, let alone Tom Brady?♂️?

Danny, shouldn’t you be more worried about that debacle of a thing called #Brexit and your OWN country before you shoot that mouth off about ours? Plus, if you cared about women’s rights & domestic violence, you wouldn’t watch the NFL at all, anyways! Kthx ya wanker…

Obviously his acting career has tanked and he is looking for publicity. So sad

Seriously Daniel? Firstly not your business. Secondly who gives a toss who you support. Thirdly so what if he supports Trump. Your inference is pathetic. Wanker.https://t.co/66IpaHQc06

The election has proven, so called ⭐️ have zero influence on people. Hillary, had all the big ⭐️ come out for her, and brew big crowds to attend free concerts. But that’s all it was, a free concert, didn’t change anyone’s mind. Point, we don’t give a rats ass what you think.

It’s a shame a hat that has no hatefilled message, triggers someone who seems to have hate and prejudice.
