Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., the House Democrat Caucus Chair, said on Monday that the president of the United States is the new head of the KKK — the irony being that he spewed such hatred in a speech honoring Martin Luther King Jr., a man who rejected hate.
“We have a hater in the White House. The birther-in-chief. The Grand Wizard of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue,” Jeffries said. “One of the things that we’ve learned is that while Jim Crow may be dead he’s still got some nieces and nephews that are alive and well.”
The fifth highest leader in the party spoke before a portrait of the slain civil rights hero, a man who courageously fought real racism. We can only imagine that Dr. King would shudder to hear such nonsense.
Jeffries evoked King’s name in likening Trump to George Wallace.
“So one of the things we need to do is learn from the lessons of Dr. King, and he dealt with such hate in the ‘50s and ‘60s,” Jeffries said. “In 1963, I think it was the governor of Alabama who rose in his inauguration speech and said, ‘segregation now, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever.’ That was Gov. George Wallace. But, Dr. King showed us in that very same year that when haters rise up, you don’t run from the problem, you run toward the problem. So shortly after that, Dr. King announced that he was going to desegregate Birmingham.”
Turns out, Jeffries was rehashing an old line with his irresponsible speech, as he called the president the “Grand Wizard of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.” in a tweet last year while responding to Trump calling sh*thole third world countries… well “sh*thole countries.”
“Grand Wizard of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. has once again ripped the sheets off and exposed himself to the American People. What a DISGRACE,” Jeffries tweeted.

Of course, with the “future” of the Democratic Party, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., reportedly making a primary defeat of Jeffries her “highest priority” ahead of the 2020 election, it’s understandable that he may feel the need to go out on a limb with his extremism to stay one step ahead of the party’s socialist element.
