Tucker defends Trump supporters from attack: ‘Oh, so not only are those poor, toothless Americans ugly — they’re racist now too’

On Thursday a CNN guest who identifies as a Republican political strategist accused supporters of President Donald Trump of being “ten-toothed” rubes who hate brown people.

So-called Republican strategist Rick Wilson based this dubious assertion on the GOP base’s overwhelming support for the president’s proposed southern U.S. border wall.

Roughly 24 hours later, Fox News host Tucker Carlson — a frequent defender of the working class Americans who voted for the president — tore into Wilson with the fury of a tornado.

Listen to the Fox host’s scathing commentary below, and note that it also includes a few remarks about MSNBC host Donnie Deutsch, who at least has had the courtesy to identify as a Democrat:

“Wilson is a semi-obscure consultant who’s held just enough low-level political jobs that cable television producers can bill him as a Republican strategist,” he said Friday night on Fox News.

Wilson is among a plethora of veritable left-wing strategists and commentators who identify as a Republican in the same way that some mentally unstable men identify as women.

“Wilson seems to spend most of his life opining in one of those 6-guest shout-fests in boxes that the other channels specialize in,” Carlson continued. “He’s often shouting the loudest.”

“What makes Wilson notable like so many on the left he’s moved on from hating Trump to hate people who voted for Trump, which is to say a lot of the country.”

Of the record 137.5 million Americans who voted in the 2016 presidential election, almost 63 million — or roughly 46 percent — voted for then-GOP nominee Donald Trump.

Carlson then played a video of the remarks Wilson had made on CNN the night earlier

Watch those remarks below:

“[T]he wall has always been a con for Donald Trump’s credulous rube ten-tooth base,” Wilson said. “The wall has always been a scam. It has always been a lie. Nothing about the wall has ever been real, and Donald Trump knows it. He is a guy who has a long history in his career of being a conman.”

“He’s conning these people who think he’s gonna build a 2,000-mile, 30-foot high concrete wall with laser moats and alligators in it. It’s just crazy. It always has been – and yet they suspend their disbelief because they believe so strongly in Donald Trump.”

He added that the alleged con “seems to work with” Trump’s base because the base has allegedly been told over and over again that “nothing will stop the brown horde except the wall.”

It’s not clear what facts Wilson based these assertions on, especially given that a large number of brown-skinned Americans support the sort of tougher border security sought by the president. Nearly a third of Hispanic voters chose Republican congressional candidates in last year’s election.

“Imagine mocking people who can’t afford to fix their rotting teeth. They’re a lot of people like that in this country still, and many of them did vote for Donald Trump in the hope he’d care about them, or at least not rub their faces in their own poverty,” Carlson said Friday of Wilson’s derogatory insults.

“What a cruel and awful thing to say. Does it ever occur to Rick Wilson that people who are losing their teeth might benefit from cheaper dental care? Maybe Washington could help with that. But no, It’s easier to make fun of them and get rich doing it, something that Wilson specializes in.”

The Fox host also addressed Wilson’s unsubstantiated allegations of racism.

“Oh, so not only are those poor, toothless Americans ugly — they’re racist now too. They’re bad people. It’s OK not to care about them. They can die young of diabetes and sclerosis and drug ODs, and we can feel fine about it,” he said, mocking the GOP consultant’s cruel mindset.

“Rick Wilson can keep taking pictures of himself inside private airplanes, secure in the knowledge that those dummies with bad teeth deserve everything they get. They’re immoral, unlike Rick Wilson.”

Before the segment aired, Wilson revealed that Carlson’s team had tried to reach out to him:

And then as the segment aired, he doubled down:

This cruel attitude of superiority is a staple among the left, which is why it’s unclear to many on social media why Wilson continues to identify as a principled Republican.
