‘We’re gonna impeach the motherf*ker’: First Palestinian-American woman to serve in Congress reveals priorities

Hours after the first Palestinian-American woman to serve in Congress was sworn into office with a Thomas Jefferson’s Quran — and while adorned in a Palestinian gown — the same newly minted congresswoman used profanity to call for President Donald Trump’s immediate impeachment.

“People love you and you win. And when your son looks at you and says, ‘Momma, look you won. Bullies don’t win.’ And I said, ‘Baby, they don’t, because we’re gonna go in there and we’re gonna impeach the motherf–ker,” Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib proudly declared to a crowd of supporters Thursday night.

Listen:

It’s unclear whether she actually said that to her son. It’s also unclear whether any children were present at the event above. Photos taken earlier in the day did, however, show Tlaib hanging out on Capitol Hill with a number of children, some of them her own.

The Michigan congresswoman touted the same “impeach Trump” message in a joint column she penned with political activist John Bonifaz for the Detroit Free Press. Published early Thursday, the column claimed “each passing day brings more pain for the people most directly hurt by this president” and this is why “[t]he time for impeachment proceedings is now.”

“President Donald Trump is a direct and serious threat to our country. On an almost daily basis, he attacks our Constitution, our democracy, the rule of law and the people who are in this country. His conduct has created a constitutional crisis that we must confront now,”  Tlaib and Bonifaz wrote.

It’s not clear what the duo meant, given as the American people have in fact been faring better under the president’s pro-growth, pro-business policies, including reduced regulations and lower taxes.

It’s also unclear why Tlaib seems to be more concerned with waging a political war against the president than with doing everything in her power to help the city she represents, Detroit.

Many were quick to criticize her for this:

Detroit maintains rankings as the worst city to live in, the worst city to drive in, the worst city for jobs and even the worst city for single people, according to various studies.

HERE’S WHAT YOU’RE MISSING …

“The study cites a high poverty rate, declining population, a low median home value and a low percentage of bachelor’s degrees as key indicators,” the Free Press reported last summer.

“The poster child of American post-industrial urban decline, Detroit, Michigan, ranks as the worst city in the country to live in,” the study itself said. “Once home to 1.8 million residents at the peak of U.S. auto manufacturing in the 1950s, the city is now home to fewer than 700,000 after decades of decline.”

And for some inexplicable reason Tlaib seems uninterested in remedying these problems. Some might even argue that she’s uninterested in remedying any of America’s problems. Instead she seems disturbingly obsessed with “helping” her fellow Palestinians back home.

For instance, on Thursday either she or a staff member stuck a Post-It note labeled with the word “Palestine” onto the world map in her office. The note appeared to cover up almost all of Israel:

Tlaib appears to align with those who essentially want to wipe Israel off the map and permanently replace it with a new country or territory called Palestine.

Many on social media were troubled by the congresswoman’s focus on “Palestine”:
