Being that it was New Year’s Eve, CNN continued what’s quickly become a tradition, that being that the network’s anchors momentarily stop bashing President Trump to get trashed live on air — or, at least, doing their best impression of Dean Martin to give the impression that they are trashed.
And if they are getting inebriated — allegedly — why not provide a tutorial on how to binge drink so viewers can join in.
(Never mind that the Center for Disease Control and Prevention says binge drinking is a serious public health problem and the most common, costly, and deadly pattern of excessive alcohol use in the United States.)
CNN investigative reporter Randi Kaye not only offered a live demonstration on how to chug an entire bottle of champagne through a bong made out of a snorkel, using a crew member from the yacht she was on as the subject.
…before she opted to join in herself.
Kaye, as you may recall, rang in the new year in 2018 in Colorado on a party bus full of weed heads, and since she is not about to acquire a “contact high” from watching someone chug champagne, she too drank from the snorkel bong.
Live. On air.
“This is not a good idea,” CNN anchor Anderson Cooper can be heard saying from New York City as Kaye gets in position to slam champagne.
Of course, Anderson was in no position to judge what is or is not a good idea, given that he and co-anchor Andy Cohen took hourly tequila shots.

We say tequila because that’s what they told their viewers. Keeping in mind that this is the network that wants to tell you that an apple is a banana.
“I feel like my lungs are scorched,” Cooper complained after the night’s first shot.
Ironically, he would boast about his manhood during the course of the evening, but it appears that tequila was a little too much for his taste.
Cooper squawks like Big Bird after taking another shot. After yet another, he says he would rather be drinking NyQuil cold medicine.
Colleague Kate Bennett monitors Cooper’s alcohol intake online, cheering him along — she even suggested a show where Cooper just takes shots. Of course, this would be an improvement over his current show.
