Father of deceased migrant boy reportedly denied him medical treatment; number of illnesses grow among caravan

The second migrant child who perished in U.S. custody this month died after his father reportedly rebuffed an offer from U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents for additional medical treatment.

A timeline pieced together by The Guardian based on information from CBP shows that at 7:00 pm Monday evening, the father of now-deceased Guatemalan child Felipe Gómez Alonzo, 8, “declined medical assistance” after the child vomited, claiming that the child “had been feeling better.”

Earlier in the day, Alonza had been transported to a medical center to be treated for possible influenza symptoms. During the visit he was diagnosed with the common cold and prescribed amoxicillin and Ibuprofen. Afterward, he and his father were returned to a holding facility and fed a hot meal.

Flash forward to 10:00 pm Monday, when the child became nauseous again. Because no emergency medical technicians were on duty at the time, CBP agents promptly took him and his father to a hospital.

“As they make their way there, Felipe vomits again and loses consciousness,” The Guardian notes. “11.07pm: Felipe and his father arrive at the hospital, where staff are unable to revive the eight-year old. 11:48pm: Felipe is pronounced dead.”

Following Alonzo’s tragic death, Democrats and their media allies quickly began exploiting it to score points against President Donald Trump and his hardline approach toward illegal immigration.

Not included among all these highly inflammatory tweets were any actual solutions. It’s unclear what else CBP could have possibly done differently to save Alonzo’s life.

It’s also unclear why the left refuses to acknowledge the parents’ culpability in deaths like those of Alonza. Earlier this month another migrant child — a 7-year-old girl — died in U.S. custody.

Not until seven hours later after CBP apprehended the girl and her family did federal authorities realize that she was severely malnourished and hadn’t eaten or drank anything in days. But by then it was too late, despite the agency’s best efforts to save her.

As BizPac previously reported, “dozens” of sick migrants are being transported to U.S. hospitals every day, according to a DHS official. An investigation into migrant facilities in Mexico is also underway due to increasing numbers of illnesses and disease.

As noted by Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen in a statement this week, every migrant who chooses to drag young children across thousands of miles of Central American hell for a chance to demand asylum — bears responsibility for deaths like these.

“Smugglers, traffickers, and their own parents put these minors at risk by embarking on the dangerous and arduous journey north. … I once again ask – beg – parents to not place their children at risk by taking a dangerous journey north,” she said.

Nielson also noted how overwhelmed CBP has become because of the constant influx of migrants, writing, “Our system has been pushed to a breaking point by those who seek open borders.”

It doesn’t help that an inordinate number of migrants who cross into the U.S. do so while sick with fevers and other potentially contagious medical conditions.

She added that this constant migration is “the direct result of … an immigration system that rewards parents for sending their children across the border alone.”

This system exists because of Democrat policies. The same people who continually harp on the overwhelmed Trump administration for allegedly mistreating migrants are the ones most eager to prevent the construction of a border wall and the implementation of tighter immigration controls.

Social media users have tried to point out these out to the left, but liberals don’t seem to be listening.
