According to recently “nasty” left-leaning Fox News host Shepard Smith, the mere discussion of criminal activities should be governed by a statute of limitations, especially if those discussions pertain to the criminal activities of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
The hot-tempered host suggested as much while speaking Friday with Fox News chief intelligence correspondent Catherine Herridge about recent criticisms of special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into alleged Russian collusion.
Watch the full discussion below:
The criticisms specifically concern the claim by Mueller that former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn is an unrepentant liar who deceived federal authorities in January of 2017.
Though the former adviser later pleaded guilty to lying about otherwise perfectly legal discussions he had with Russian officials during President Donald Trump’s transition to power in late 2016, the evidence suggests he never actually lied but rather was coerced into admitting otherwise.
Mueller disagrees.
“The special counsel’s bottom line is that someone like Flynn with so much military and intelligence experience should have known or would have known that he just could not make any kind of statements that were misleading to the FBI,” Herridge revealed Friday.
The special counsel’s critics claim otherwise.
“Flynn’s lawyers have argued that they did not treat other targets of investigations in a similar manner. … Critics of the special counsel and [former FBI] Director Comey point to the treatment of Hillary Clinton in the email case,” Herridge explained.
The Department of Justice wound up letting Clinton off the hook two years ago despite the myriad of lies she had told about her widely criticized email habits.
The video below contrasts her lies with statements then-Director James Comey made in 2016 when he announced that he’d not be recommending charges be filed against her:
In Clinton’s case, she actually lied. And for that she received nothing. Yet Flynn, who evidence suggests may have never lied, has had his life ruined and faces a potential prison sentence.
Despite the clear-cut relevance between the Clinton case and Flynn case, Smith was interested in hearing none of it: “Seriously!?” he cut in with indignation.
“Yeah, that’s what [critics] point to,” Herridge replied.
This only further inflamed the Fox hosts.
“Well, let them point. I mean Hillary Clinton, seriously?”
“The point with …,” Herridge tried to interject, only to be cut off again.
“The point with that was that investigation is over, and we’re onto a new one,” Smith said.
And point two, according to Smith, is that anyone who claims Flynn didn’t lie is delusional.
“I’ve been reading from some of you, ‘Flynn didn’t lie, stop it, stop it,'” Smith said after his discussion with Herridge. “Find something defensible. That’s not it.”
“The president said he lied. The vice president said he lied. Special counsel Robert Mueller said he lied. Incoming press secretary said he lied. FBI said he lied. He lied. Now we’ll see what happens.”
Watch:
The president has for his part made it clear he strongly disagrees with how Flynn’s been treated.
“I feel badly for General Flynn,” he said last year. “I feel very badly. He’s led a very strong life and I feel very badly. Hillary Clinton lied many times to the FBI. Nothing happened to her.”
And just this week he admitted that the criticisms of Mueller may be valid.
“Well the FBI said Michael Flynn, a general and a great person, they said he didn’t lie. And Mueller said: ‘Well, maybe he did.’ And now they’re all having a big dispute, so I think it’s a great thing that the judge is looking into that situation,” he said.
While Smith clearly disagrees, very few on social media to agree with him:
Shepard Smith just declined to admit there was obvious bias with the Clinton / Trump investigation. Shepard Smith’s obvious bias against the president is phenomenal. Fair and balanced my ass. Smith already has Flynn’s neck in a rope.

Why is Shepard Smith still on Fox? He is such a Trump hater that he was rude and abrupt to his coworker Katherine Herridge. She was reporting on his show Friday about the Flynn situation and he abruptly interrupted her so he could get his negative point across. Send him to MSNBC
