TIME reveals top ten finalist for 2018 ‘Person of the Year.’ Trump makes it, then it all goes sideways. Bets?

NBC News’ “Today” revealed the Top 10 finalists for TIME magazine’s Person of The Year 2018 and, yes, President Donald Trump made the cut.

Never mind that he is competing with the likes of Russian President Vladimir Putin, “Black Panther” co-writer and director Ryan Coogler and Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex and wife of Prince Harry — Markle seems to be the liberal pop culture favorite.

In sharing the finalists — TIME seems to struggle with the idea that a “person” is not a  group of people  — co-host Savannah Guthrie said the honor goes to whoever “had the biggest impact on the world, for better or for worse.”

TIME’s 2018 Person of the Year will be announced Tuesday on the Today show. Here are the finalists “in no particular order.”

  • President Donald Trump
  • Separated Families
  • Vladimir Putin
  • Robert Mueller
  • Ryan Coogler
  • Christine Blasey Ford
  • Jamal Khashoggi
  • March for Our Lives Activists
  • Moon Jae-in
  • Meghan Markle

If Time is looking to influence pending political events, the decision would likely go with special counsel Robert Mueller or Separated Families.

Or March for Our Lives activists, as gun control is paramount to liberal orthodoxy.

Putin’s inclusion is likely TIME’s way of helping keep the spotlight on alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 election in the run-up to Mueller’s final report.

Interestingly, a poll of the magazine’s readers produces a TOP 3 that was nowhere to be found in the list of finalists — it also reflects the liberal mind’s incomprehension of what constitutes a “person.”

We can only assume that Christine Blasey Ford made the list to cover the “worst” end of the spectrum, given the recent debacle, she played a central role in when she accused now-Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault — 40 some years ago — with nothing to back up her claim.

With President Trump being tapped in 2016, don’t expect a repeat as TIME’s “Person of the Year.”

Here’s a sampling of the responses to the list from Twitter:
