A left-wing “journalist” who writes for a Hong Kong newspaper that reportedly maintains covert ties with China’s Communist government believes every airplane should feature a “women-only” section.
“I dream of a future in which there are women-only seating sections on planes,” freelance “journalist” Kate Whitehead opined in a column last month for the South China Morning Post.
Why does she dream of this? Because of alleged “manspreading.”
“Nine times out of 10 — based on my extensive experience flying ‘cattle class’ — if a man is seated beside a woman he will claim the armrest,” she claimed, citing her own anecdotal evidence.
“Not only that, but his elbow will protrude slightly into the woman’s seat space. Unless you are prepared to press your arm against the man’s — which will allow you to feel the rise and fall of his breath and is, I feel, too intimate a connection with a stranger — then you have lost two inches of your seat.”
Sarcastic people might suggest that reading Whitehead robbed them of two minutes of their life.
Below are some other things the sarcastic might say:
Why not just have women only flights? No men allowed. While you’re at it no men servicing the airplanes either. Air traffic controllers should also be limited to women. Journalist claims ‘women-only’ plane sections could combat midair assaulthttps://t.co/lBCQCYzRXq

The problem, Whitehead argues, is that most women allegedly never take the initiative and claim the armrest for themselves. Thus the armrest invariably winds up being commandeered by a man.
“Most women intuitively understand that the armrest is ‘neutral territory’ and leave it as a slim buffer between them and their neighbor,” she explained.
That’s why it’s necessary that every airplane in the world adopt a “women-only” seating section. And that’s why her mission apparently also ties in with the #MeToo movement against sexual abuse:
“Men – and airlines – depend on encroachment onto women’s seats for comfortable travel. I hope that in the wake of the #MeToo movement, people will come to realize that the airline armrest is a gender political issue. The first airline to establish ‘pink rows’ will have my [business.]”
Her complaints seem to stem from a lack of confidence. Those who are sure of themselves wouldn’t be afraid to tell the passenger sitting next to them that they’re infringing on their
What’s unclear is whether her column has anything to do with sexual assault. Fox News reported that “she is factually correct in her assertion that sexual assault is indeed on the rise in the high skies.” However, her column contains no mention of sexual assault.
Fox’s assumption may be that she’s acting as if a man commandeering the armrest on an airplane amounts to sexual assault. While the idea may sound ludicrous, the #MeToo movement has indeed caused far-left feminists to label almost everything sexual assault.

So were going back to segregation again? In 1981 Canada did the same thing in bars. Men only entrance and a Women with escort entrance. There was no ladies night out. https://t.co/cOs6ueLzos #FoxNews

YOU CAN’T BE SERIOUS!!!This is PUBLIC transportation! Unfortunately my little SNOWFLAKE, your seat is not a “safe space”, free from being exposed to occasionally touching the sleeve/arm of another passenger. And by the way,… https://t.co/D7l5n2ZUzS

Speaking of Sharia compliance, Whitehead’s “pink rows” idea does seem rather totalitarian. What’s interesting about that is her employer’s own ties to totalitarianism.
“Hong Kong’s most prestigious English-language newspaper is facing calls to explain how it obtained a controversial interview with a young Chinese activist amid fears of Beijing’s influence on the 113-year-old broadsheet,” The Guardian reported two years ago.
“The calls, from activists, media experts and former and current journalists at the South China Morning Post, come after the newspaper published a story in which a 24-year-old legal assistant, who had spent nearly a year in secret detention, claimed she regretted her activism.”
The interview led to accusations that the SCMP has become a mouthpiece for the Chinese government and its authoritarian ambitions. Judging by Whitehead equally authoritarian idea, it seems like she’s found the perfect place to work …
