According to Fox News anchor Gregg Jarrett, the author of “The Russia Hoax,” special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into alleged Russian collusion is basically nothing but a scam.
“Americans are smart. They can smell a rotten investigation a mile away. There’s no reason to believe there was ever any evidence of collusion,” he said bluntly Saturday on “Fox & Friends.”
“And the best evidence of that, by the way, is the testimony, the deposition testimony of the top FBI lawyer, a couple of months ago, Lisa Page, when she confessed that during the entire time the FBI had the case they never discovered a whiff of collusion.”
Listen to his full remarks below:
During a closed-door hearing before Congress in September, disgraced former FBI attorney Lisa Page admitted that the FBI had found no evidence of collusion when it assigned the case to Mueller.
And that’s relevant because it suggests that when FBI officials assigned Mueller to investigate collusion, they did so illegally, knowing full well there was no evidence to back up their theory.
“Because the regulations say in order to appoint a special counsel, you have to have some evidence of a crime, and here is an admission, they never had it,” Garrett explained.

The Fox anchor and prolific author made these remarks during a broader discussion about the Russian collusion investigation’s impact on President Donald Trump and the American public.
Exit polls from the midterm elections earlier this month found that a 45 percent plurality of Americans disprove of Mueller’s handling of the investigation. A poll conducted last spring found that a 53 percent majority of Americans also believe the investigation is politically motivated.
The president shares this belief and has been critical of Mueller since day one. Despite his concerns, however, he recently agreed to answer some of the special counselor’s questions in writing.
Speaking Saturday about these questions, Jarrett suspected that answering them was probably one of the easiest tasks Trump’s had to complete since stepping into the White House.
“It should have taken about five minutes,” he said. “The first question was probably, did you ever coordinate or collude with Russians during the election. [The] answer is no. Do you know anybody else who did? [The] answer is no. Beyond that, there’s not much to ask.”
That being said, he warned Trump to “never underestimate” someone like Mueller, who knows how to use “irrelevant unnecessary questions” to ensnare someone in a perjury trap.

It’s why the president’s team essentially forbade him from sitting down with Mueller, demanding instead that he answer written questions.
Even Fox News’ Geraldo Rivera, who’s been repeatedly critical of the president’s policies, argued last year that Trump should never sit with Mueller to discuss either alleged Russian collusion or claims that he obstructed justice when he fired disgraced former FBI Director James Comey.
“If I were his attorney, I would grab him by the ankles to prevent him from going into a room and given sworn testimony… walk into a perjury trap,” he said on “Fox & Friends.”
“There’s only one danger the president now faces,” he continued, explaining that Trump might accidentally say something that contradicts something he said in the past. “Why open yourself to a perjury trap, because that’s his only vulnerability now.”
Listen:
What Garrett would really like is the chance to question Comey.
“It would take me about two days to question Comey, but at the top of my list is what legal justification did you ever have for launching the Trump Russia investigation?” he said.
“Isn’t it true, Mr. Comey, that your FBI was meeting with the author of the phony dossier on the very day you cleared Hillary Clinton, and isn’t it true you deceived and concealed vital evidence from the FISA court to spy on an American citizen and Trump campaign associate?”
Social media users also have some questions for Comey, who’s reportedly slated to testify before House Democrats sometime before the end of the year:
I have a question for you. Did you know that the Dossier was not verified before you presented it to Donald Trump? If you are above board and honest, you should be able to answer here and now.

Let us know when it’s convenient for you to answer questions truthfully about the #ClintonInvestigation. You’re a very dishonest man. #Truth

Pretty cocky since the dems took control. How about you answer my questions, under oath
— Kef182 (@kef2016) November 17, 2018
Under oath…because you have zero credibility without using the Bible you like to quote. But then…
My question: Why didn’t you make your friend Hillary answer questions under oath? But then…. you probably knew she would lie under any circumstances.

Ok, answer my question. Did you have enough evidence to charge Hillary Clinton, and did you let her off the hook? Full transparency remember.

Here’s the No. 1 questions: Why did you not charge or recommend charges against @HillaryClinton for using a private unsecured server to transmit classified information? And, you answer will be: Because I’m a Democrat and I supported Hillary, along with my wife and family.

While these are all valid questions, Mueller has shown no interest in seeking their answers. This in turn has only strengthened the belief by those like Garrett that the investigation is a scam.
