Economist Ben Stein attributed the Republican Party expanding its majority in the U.S. Senate to President Donald Trump having “magic coming out his ears,” but there appears to be an accompanying reason for the gain:
Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
Every incumbent Senate Democrat in states rated “toss up” who opposed Kavanaugh lost on Tuesday, according to Fox News.
Incumbent Senate Democrats in battleground states who opposed the Brett Kavanaugh Supreme Court nomination appeared to have paid a price on Election Day, with senators Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota, Indiana’s Joe Donnelly, Claire McCaskill of Missouri and Florida’s Bill Nelson all suffering defeat.
In fact, every Democrat incumbent who opposed Kavanaugh in states rated “toss up” by Fox News lost their race. In contrast, the lone Democrat who voted for Kavanaugh, Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia, won his race.
Given the disgusting 11th hour ambush of Kavanaugh by Senate Democrats, led by Sen. Diane Feinstein, who cruised to victory Tuesday courtesy of California liberals, “Remember Kavanaugh” was a common rally call.
Do not forget what they did to this honorable man
Do not forget how they colluded and hid a fake allegation for 6 weeks and lied to his face
Do not forget how they spent millions to destroy his good name
Do not forget the protestors screaming at Senators
Remember Kavanaugh. pic.twitter.com/ZkaeH05jcC

Tom Bevan, co-founder of RealClearPolitics, tweeted on Tuesday’s election results:
“So every Dem Senator in a competitive race who voted against Kavanaugh lost (Donnelly, Heitkamp, McCaskill, and almost certainly Nelson), and the one who voted for Kavanaugh survived (Manchin). Coincidence?”

In fact, the hashtag #KavanaughEffect was employed Tuesday night to answer that question:
Nope! #KavanaughEffect

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., who doggedly stood by Kavanaugh during the darkest moments, took to Twitter late Tuesday to say: “One of the reasons we are winning big in the Senate tonight is because of the way Democrats treated Brett Kavanaugh.”

Appearing on Fox News, Graham said “Kavanaugh united our party.”
Which is more than can be said about Barack Obama, as social media was a’twitter over the fact the former president was 0-4 in Senate and gubernatorial races that he broke norms to campaign for, as noted by Molly Hemingway, senior editor at the online magazine The Federalist.
Obama took norm-breaking step of campaigning in midterm against his successor. Visited Indiana, Georgia, Florida in recent days. Didn't go well. Indiana and Florida flipped Senate seats from Dem to GOP. Democrat Abrams lost governor race in GA.

TREND:
Over the past 5 days, President Obama flew into the states of Georgia, Florida & Indiana to personally campaign for big-name Democrat candidates in those states.
Here's how they did:
Joe Donnelly: Lost
Andrew Gillum: Lost
Bill Nelson: Lost
Stacey Abrams: Lost— Benny (@bennyjohnson) November 7, 2018
