Tucker spars with guest who says Americans need to fall in line with libs’ idea of respect or be ‘dealt with’

A liberal political commentator who once worked for Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer suggested Friday that Americans whose views don’t align with those of the left need to be “dealt with,” though he refrained from clarifying what ‘dealing with’ such people would specifically entail.

“I believe that you got to get everyone to come around at the idea that all men and all women are created equal in this country and should be treated with dignity and respect,” former Schumer aide Chris Hahn initially said during a discussion Friday evening on “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”

Though the notion of encouraging equality struck host Tucker Carlson as perfectly reasonable, what Hahn said next irked both him and others for a variety of reasons.

Listen to part one of the discussion below:

“When there are people who are not willing to treat people with dignity and respect, they need to be dealt with in society, because this is not what we have in a welcoming open society — people who are actively trying to hurt people based on their race, sex, religion, gender or sexual identity,” he said.

Carlson replied by noting that, unlike Hahn’s allies, he encourages equality every day.

“I make the argument almost every single night on this show for a society that judges people on the basis of how they behave and not on their immutable characteristics, like their sex or race,” Carlson initially replied. “I hear the very opposite rhetoric from the Democrat party.”

The left’s politics are rooted in identity politics, an innately racist ideology that classifies some people as privileged oppressors and others as victims because of their race, gender or sexual orientation.

Included among the left’s “victims” are many bullies. Take for instance left-wing activists who try to use the power of the courts to force Christian bakers into baking custom cakes for gay wedding weddings.

While conservatives view the bakers as the real victims, the radical left considers the left-wing bullies the victims on the basis that the bakers are bigots. And because they’re allegedly bigots, they’d need to be “dealt with,” according to Hahn. Never mind the bullies’ clear-cut disdain and disrespect for the bakers’ religious views. And never mind also the facts.

In the case of Masterpiece Cakeshop owner Jack Phillips, he treated his bullies with respect by offering to bake them a birthday cake, a shower cake — anything but a gay wedding cake that would’ve violated his deeply held religious beliefs. And for doing that he was “dealt with” via potential jail time and even death threats.

It’s unclear if this is the sort of punishment Hahn envisions for any American who defies the left’s draconian demands.

Continuing the discussion Friday, Carlson then asked Hahn whether Democrats are willing to prioritize the interests of the American people over everyone else.

Listen:

“Can a Democrat, an elected Democrat look into the camera and say, ‘I side with American citizens over everyone else. American citizens’ concerns are more important than the concerns of any other citizens around the world and when their interests conflict with the interest of other citizens, I’m taking America’s side.’ I don’t think they can say that,” he said.

Instead of simply answering the question, Hahn again resorted to the typical tactic of crying bigotry, citing President Donald Trump’s recent self-identification as a “nationalist” as proof that the right’s interest in prioritizing the American people racist.

“This guy is trying to make nationalism a thing, and white nationalists know what he means when he says ‘nationalism,’ and that’s all that really matters in America,” he said.

His rhetoric provided another example of why the “dealt with” mentality is so dangerous. To the radical left, those who promote nationalism are also bigots.

“Tell me why the idea is wrong,” Carlson replied. “Why is it wrong to say I am loyal to my nation … but if I call it ‘nationalism’ and Don Lemon doesn’t like it, then I have to not call it that. What is the argument you’re making?”

There was no argument, of course, except this: Everything the left dislikes counts as bigotry, and those who engage in this bigotry must be “dealt with.”
