Reagan who? It’s often been said that history is written by the winners and in the state of California, progressive Democrats are the victors.
First graders in the Golden State are being subjected to political propaganda in their textbooks, which tout the accomplishments of Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom when he served as the mayor of San Francisco.
The uber-liberal Democrat is now running for governor and is highlighted in a video in conjunction with the David Horowitz Freedom Center’s “Stop K-12 Indoctrination” campaign — videographer Sean Fitzgerald exposes how California is using 1st grade history textbooks to indoctrinate children to support current state politicians.
“I’m not gonna mince any words here,” Fitzgerald says. “This is the state of California inserting political propaganda into first-grade textbooks, propaganda endorsing the occupant of the second highest office in the state of California.”
Citing a textbook used by first graders at the Elk Grove Unified School District in southern Sacramento, Fitzgerald points to a passage containing “a glowing profile” of Newsom as a “civil rights hero” for his decision as mayor of San Francisco to order the county clerk to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples in the year 2004.
The textbook states:
Gavin said that people could marry who they choose. Sometimes, Gavin helped marry people. Some marriages were not between a man and a woman. He made sure that people’s rights were respected.
“This profile which reads like a press release from the Newsom campaign made its way into first grade history textbooks due to a California state law called The Fair Act, [which] requires history textbooks in the state of California to be more inclusive when it comes to underrepresented minorities,” Fitzgerald explained.
After noting that Newsom, a white male, is not a member of the LGBT community, he adds that “even under that justification this does not belong in the history textbook.”
Yet, the gubernatorial candidate is listed alongside the likes of Abraham Lincoln and Benjamin Franklin.
“And if you think this isn’t about political indoctrination but it’s more of a local bias kind of thing,” Fitzgerald said, “suspiciously absent from the list is former governor and President Ronald. Reagan
