Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, a Democrat known for telling tall tales, reacted in ostensible shock Tuesday evening when her midterm opponent confronted her on a potential ethics violation.
“Senator Warren was fundraising illegally using the vote on Justice Kavanaugh, the confirmation vote, to try to raise money for her campaigns,” Republican state Rep. Geoffrey Diehl said of Warren’s ‘unconscionable’ actions during the debate.
Diehl referenced recently confirmed Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh and his tumultuous confirmation hearings in September and October.
When the debate moderators later asked Warren for confirmation regarding the veracity of the ethics complaint against her, she denied even being aware of it.
Listen, and take note of the audible gasp that erupted after the senator’s dubious denial:
Many questioned the sincerity of her shock, given as the Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust had a day earlier filed a Senate ethics complaint against both her and fellow Sen. Kamala Harris accusing them of “cashing in” on their Senate positions for monetary gain.
The organization stated in its filing that both senators sent their constituents fundraising emails before Kavanaugh’s confirmation vote last month in what appeared to be an attempt to sell their votes.
“Specifically, the campaign emails both stated Senators Warren and Harris’s official role and positions on the ongoing confirmation hearing and then made direct requests for campaign donations with ‘DONATE NOW’ and ‘CONTRIBUTE’ buttons,” FACT noted in a statement.
“Senate ethics laws prohibit candidates from using the promise of official action or legislative work in a direct ask for campaign cash.”

The evidence suggests that these accusation bear merit. During the final weeks of the confirmation hearings — around the time that since-discredited accuser Christine Blasey Ford’s trotted out allegations of sexual assault against Kavanaugh — Warren did indeed “panhandle” for money.
“Christine Blasey Ford has done a brave thing in coming forward. She deserves to be heard and treated with respect. Now it’s the Senate’s job to make sure that happens,” she wrote to her constituents.
The implication appeared to be that Ford would be afforded “respect” via a “no” vote against Kavanaugh, but only if the senator’s constituents forked over enough money.
Despite the corruption that seems to perpetually surround the Massachusetts senator, Diehl continues to trail her by double digits, according to polling averages by RealClearPolitics:
Note how her lead seems to be steadily declining. While it remains unclear whether Warren’s latest apparent lie (one of many) will affect the election, some hope it does. Others are skeptical.
Look:
Jeff should’ve been more relentless. She’s hard to beat. Most people I know say they’re voting for Jeff.

MA will still vote her back into office, although 68% of them would never approve of her as President…
Go figure…— Dale (@dale_sundstrom) November 1, 2018
So does that mean she will lose now? Hope so!
