Former national security adviser Susan Rice’s son is an outspoken supporter of President Donald Trump and the College Republicans president at Stanford University, according to a Thursday report.
Despite his mother’s political beliefs, John David Rice-Cameron, 20, said he was inspired by the Tea Party movement and is trying to “Make Stanford Great Again,” Fox News reported. Rice-Cameron, who is also an activism director for the California College Republicans, said he and his mother disagree on most political issues but have maintained a “great relationship.”
“My mother and I have a great relationship, and my mother believes strongly in the free and respectful exchange of ideas,” Rice-Cameron told Fox News Wednesday. “We disagree on most of the standard Republican/Democrat disagreements. However, we agree that America is the greatest nation the world has ever seen, and thus, we believe that America has an important role to play as a force for liberty and justice on the world stage.”
Rice served under former President Barack Obama and faced scrutiny after she falsely blamed a September 11, 2012 terrorist attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, on an anti-Muslim YouTube video. The attack left four Americans dead. Her statements directly conflicted with U.S. intelligence evaluations that the attack was pre-planned and by radical Islamic terrorists in the region.
At Stanford, Rice-Cameron has been involved in many issues on campus, most recently hosting Turning Point USA’s Charlie Kirk and Candace Owens for a “Make Stanford Great Again!” event Tuesday.
